DENVER - The painfully cold weather in Denver has now set four new records in three days ... so far.
Tuesday and Wednesday broke records for the lowest high temperature on those dates:
• The high on Tuesday was 16 degrees, easily beating the old cold maximum of 19 degrees, set in 1916.
• Our high Wednesday was 6 degrees, beating the record of 9 degrees in 1916.
On Wednesday we also set new records for the lowest low on those dates:
• At about 11:30 Wednesday night, Denver dropped to a low of -13, breaking the record low of -4 in 1882.
On Thursday morning we broke another record -- the lowest low for this date.
• Denver hit 14 below zero early Thursday morning. The previous record low for Nov. 13 was 3 below zero, also set in 1916.
With temperatures expected to top out around 19 degrees today, Denver will probably not set a new record for the lowest high on this date, Storm Station 7 Meteorologist Dayle Cedars said.
But this is not the coldest we've ever experienced. We have had many days over the years with a low in Denver ranging from -25 to -17.
The coldest temperature ever recorded for Denver was -29, which was recorded on Jan. 9, 1875.
