Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is gearing up for a potential run for president in 2016 after a strong showing in 2008, winning the Iowa caucuses.

Huckabee, who served as governor of Arkansas between 1996-2007, won eight states in the Republican primaries when he first sought the White House in 2008. Fox News then gave him a weekend show where he is able to share his views on the news of the day and feature top political figures.

Does a candidate that is mainly a "social conservative" have a chance to get the GOP nomination in 2016?

FYI Colorado had a "Personhood" initiative on their ballot, but it lost by about 2 to 1.

He's too 'corny' for even Conservatives.  Not what's between his ears, but his persona.  It's a shame nobody close to him can tell him.     :laugh:

I don't understand why some of these candidates ever bother to try no way is Huckabee ever going to win anything and it cost money to run and it is just a waste of the money. He is really to corny but then so is Jeb Bush and Christie.  Lord help us all through the long months of listening to hogwash of the candidates who will be going out for president most about as liberal as the democrats.

I think that some of these fringe candidates might be encouraged to run by people with less than honorable intentions - the intention being to crowd the field and divide support among conservatives - that's how the moderate ends up being the last man standing.  I think these types are massaging Huckabee's ego in getting him to run. 

I hope and pray we don't fall for these tactics again.

From what I've seen of Huckabee his ego needs no massaging. He wants to be president. I think my first clue is he ran in '08.
