A man is in hospital in a critical condition after dropping a cigarette and running over his own head.

The freak incident took place in Aurora, Colorado, at around 6.40am on Sunday.

The man was lighting a cigarette while reversing his van out of a driveway, report KUSA News.

He dropped it down the front of his jacket and jumped out the vehicle.

But it continued to roll back, knocking the man over and a tyre on the driver’s side crushed his head.

He was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition, but it thought to survive.

I hate when that happens, dropping a cigarette and accidentally crushing your head. Always ruins my day.
