EP-310169977.jpg&MaxW=550Democrat representatives use a gun to defend their lives against thugs. Imagine that. I’m glad they had the gun there. Now, would you kindly stop trying to take guns away from law abiding citizens?

Police have charged four teenagers in the attempted robbery and exchange of gunfire involving state Reps. Marty Flynn and Ryan Bizzarro late Tuesday night in Harrisburg.

One of the assailants, who pointed a gun at Bizzarro’s head, is facing two counts of attempted homicide, police said.

Bizzarro, 28, D-3rd Dist., and Flynn, 39, D-Scranton, who exchanged gunfire with the assailants, were not injured. Nothing was taken from Bizzarro or Flynn, officials said.

The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. Tuesday near the 200 block of Herr Street, which is about four blocks from the Capitol in Harrisburg’s midtown neighborhood.

Although they are juveniles, the four teenagers arrested after the incident are being charged as adults, according to Harrisburg police. Jamani Ellison, 17, and Derek Anderson, 17, and Jyair Leonard, 15, were each charged with robbery, conspiracy robbery, and curfew.

Zha-quan McGhee, 15, was charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault. possession of a firearm by a minor, robbery, conspiracy robbery, and curfew.

Bizzarro and Flynn were at the Capitol until the House session ended at around 7:30 p.m., state officials said. They met four other House members for dinner, walked two of their colleagues back to the Capitol, and began walking home when they were approached by two males, authorities said.

One of the assailants pointed a gun at Bizzarro’s head and demanded Bizzarro’s and Flynn’s wallets, Harrisburg police and state officials said.

Flynn was in legal possession of a handgun during the attempted robbery, authorities said. Flynn exchanged shots with one of the assailants before the would-be robbers fled the area, police said.

I can't help note there are no descriptions of the thugs though their names be enough to tell us a good deal about them. :bullie smokin:

It's my understanding that these legislators are not necessarily anti-gun, regardless of their party affiliation, so the "hypocrite" moniker may be misplaced.

...  Bizzarro has received an AQ rating from the National Rifle Association, which indicates he may not have responded to the NRA’s questionnaire, and a B rating from the Pennsylvania gun rights group Firearm Owners Against Crime.

Flynn has yet to receive a rating from the NRA and garners a C rating from FOAC. However, Guns Save Lives points out that Flynn appears to have been hosting a seminar on concealed carry shortly before the attack occurred.

We can’t find much on Flynn’s stance on guns except that he seems to have hosted a free seminar on concealed carry just hours before the alleged incident.
