It’s nearly impossible for Christians, or any other non-Muslims, to live under Sharia law. Even if unbelievers pay a hefty jizya, their Muslim governors still cannot guarantee they will not be exiled or slaughtered.
For Asia Bibi, a 50-year-old Pakistani Christian woman, true Islam is an intolerant tyrant, bent on squashing all opposition to the prophet Muhammad.
Bibi was given the death sentence in 2010 for blasphemy. Her crime: attempting to drink from the same water as Muslim women.

In Islam, non-Muslims, especially Christians and Jews, are considered unclean. Bibi was put to work picking berries in 2009 with her Muslim superiors. When she became thirsty, she was caught drinking from the same water source that the Muslims use. An angry mob of Muslims later arrived at her house and brutally beat her and her family, claiming she had used disparaging remarks about Muhammad, the Daily Mail reports.
Bibi was sentenced to hang for her crime, but because of global outcry, her punishment was delayed. An appeal was submitted to overturn her harsh sentence, but unfortunately she recently learned her fate.
This week, Bibi lost her appeal, and now faces the hangman’s noose, an outcome that has many minorities in Muslim countries fearing for their lives.

The denial isn’t surprising, as two witnesses allegedly were not allowed to appear in court, and two prominent politicians who attempted to help Bibi were assassinated.
In a statement Thursday, Amnesty International called for Bibi’s release.
“This is a grave injustice,” said David Griffiths, Amnesty’s Deputy Asia Pacific Director. He said there were serious concerns about the fairness of the trial. “Her mental and physical health has reportedly deteriorated badly during the years she has spent in almost total isolation on death row. She should be released immediately and the conviction should be quashed,” he said, according to Al Arabiya.
Under Pakistan’s Sharia law, blasphemy can either be punished with life imprisonment or death. This means that if a Muslim comes against a non-Muslim in a court of law accusing them of making remarks against Muhammad, as in Bibi’s case, that unbeliever could spend their life in detrimental isolation, or end up with a death sentence.
As for the most powerful leader in the free world, President Obama has done nothing to appeal for Bibi’s life. In fact, he hasn’t even addressed the issue. Perhaps because it would tarnish his “religion of peace.”
