Let's Face It...We're Screwed
« on: October 15, 2014, 11:18:00 am »
Have been holding the opinion for years, that the Department of Education has to be done away with...in order to bring back a curriculum we all enjoyed back in the 50's and 60's.  One that espouses pride in the United States and it's role in the world as a protector of individual freedom.

One that is pro free-market capitalism...one that 'bleeds' red, white and blue.  One that cherishes what our Founding Fathers created for ALL of us.

I was wrong.

For...where would we get the teachers and administrators that TRULY believe that ideology?  Not enough of them even exist today.

IMO, while the Baby Boomer generation was too busy with two-income families, bigger houses, 2nd cars, nannies and professional daycare, Montessori school for our children...the Department of Education and thus our universities were taken over by spawns of the Leftist ideology....one that puts the collective above the individual.

Whether it's because of the internet bombarding us with inciting headlines in our 24/7 news cycle, where our senses are dulled and/or enraged, we have to admit that Conservatives have become an enemy of our society and culture.  We're hopelessly outnumbered...to the point we've become pariahs in the eyes of 'normal' everyday Americans.

How do we fix it?  How do we shake America back to its senses?

Barack Obama has indeed fundamentally transformed the United States of America.  There is no effective opposition.  Not with a complicit mainstream media.  Not with a metastasized cancer spreading hate between the races.

Each day I become more incensed that the majority doesn't rise up...until I am reminded that there is no so-called majority any longer.

We cannot save our country and heritage without changing the culture.  At this point, who would condone it?  How would it be achieved?

There is no more mandate.  It would have to be dispensed like Caster Oil to a child.  By force.

Truth is that Conservative Americans are living on borrowed time.  As each Baby Boomer dies, the opposition's voice becomes more faint.  Soon only a dog would be able to detect it.

We're screwed.

As seasoned citizens, it's not so much us...but our children and grandchildren.

They say you can't miss what you've never experienced firsthand.

These tired old bones can't do anything about it.  If I were a much younger man, I'd be a revolutionary.  In the vein of William Ayers...but for the Right.

But now....all I have is joy intermingled with sadness.  Joy that I won't live to see a USA embrace Socialism and Communism.  Sadness that my grandchildren won't even know enough to give a damn.

I too, see no way out of this.  We're screwed.

It is always darkest just before the dawn.

But the dawn that I envision will come up like thunder.

Americans need to be shaken out of their lethargy, their self-involvement, their voluntary ignorance, their habitual dependency, and their foolish reliance on political liars, cheats, and scoundrels.

And trust me: they will be shaken.

How Americans respond will depend on which voices speak the loudest and most clearly. And that is why those of us who sitll love liberty, free enterprise, and tradiotnal values must be prepared to stand up - no matter the cost, and no matter how dark the skies.

It sounds great when I read your post, Andy.

But, as Mark Steyn recently said, A Republican Conservative Administration cannot effectively bring change until the culture is changed.  It will fail.

An adversarial mainstream media, academia, and Hollywood, together with a thuggish black, Rap...Hip Hop culture spells ineffectiveness on a major level.

Therein lies the crux of the problem.  Obama didn't change our culture; he took advantage of a culture morphing into something the older among us can't yet even understand, let alone accept.  He did certainly help speed that change up though, while we stood around saying, "huh?".

We aren't going to change the culture without something earth-shattering takes place.  Our culture is a result of family, school, and media involvement.  No amount of preaching, talking about laws or amendments, or even winning an election or two is going to stop that cultural transition.

I've no answer.  But DC, that was a hell of a good opinion you wrote starting this thread.   :patriot:

If you're talking about utilizing the voting process...the only person you'd be satiating is yourself.  Truthfully, it's time to seriously lock n' load.

But...we're too old for a bloody jihad against the media or local government officials.  And too civilized, I'm afraid.

Makes me understand the basis for the Islamic penchant for jihad, however.  In terms of reaching the point where you stop talking and taking action.

For I'm convinced that right or wrong....if the corporate boardrooms of the news networks, and their talking heads and pundits lived in the same fear as a Sunni or Shiite walking down Baghdad's main thoroughfare today....we may start to see TRUTH being reported...a little more objectivity instead of daily bullsh*t and lies.

An existential crisis that causes extreme upheaval, death, privation and poverty on a nation-wide level.  When life as we know it is no longer possible...that's when a culture changes.  Never before that, not in the "richest" nation on earth.

That's true Scottftc!  Our culture will be dragged to change - it won't be out of choice, but necessity.  That's going to entail some pretty bad times ahead.  I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting too old for this shit.  But, we've got to keep repeating ourselves over and over about how it was in the "good old days" to any young person we can hold captive to have to listen.  Someday when it all collapses - our stories will be all they will have to go on.

That's when a lot of them will finally "get it".

You are absolutely right Bigun!   :amen:

These children will be the leaders of the future!

I went back to college a few years ago - just because I dropped out when I was young and stupid and always wanted to "finish" college.  I was nervous about it, hadn't gone to school in thirty years.  Lo and behold - I made straight A's!

Talking to my teachers, they told me that the older students always made good grades - and the homeschooled students did too!  I shared several classes with homeschooled kids and you could spot them a mile away.  They were participating in class - asking questions and such.........while many of the public school students were sitting at their desks texting on their phones and making dismal grades, when they took the trouble to show up for class.

There is one thing, more than any other, that I believe would serve to change America's fortunes at this twilight moment: the emergence of a leader.

Not a ruler or God forbid, a putative dictator, but instead a leader of free men.

A person who might speak clearly, calmly and with conviction about the causes of our civilizational decline, and of the possibility of renewal.

A person who might rally not only those already predisposed to follow, but more importantly to inspire those who do not know, those who have forgotten and those who have abandoned the virtues that once made our country the envy of the world.

A person of courage. Of decency. Of kindness. Of compassion. Of wisdom.

America at this hour requires a person of honor, a statesman, and a calm voice for reason.

Our depraved culture and our poisonous politics have now for many years both stained our legacy and militated against the emergence or success of such people.

What decent man or woman would voluntarily subject themselves and their family to the predations of Progressive power-mongers, armed with vast Treasuries with which to fund slander and calumny, and armies of paid Tribunes to attack and destroy those who might challenge their benefactors?

The friends of freedom, the lovers of liberty are at this hour abandoned by their party and starved for inspiration.

Great men once pledged their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor" to bring forth a nation historically, uniquely committed not to conquest, but to freedom. Not to the promotion of government power, but to that of enlightened self-governance.

Who, today will dare step forward?

I'm a little gun shy. I once thought Chris Christie could be that type of person. The only one who is on the political stage at this time, that I have any hope that he could rise to that challenge is Trey Gowdy. But I don't know enough about him to say that he is that kind of person.

Andy....I honestly don't 'see' any ONE person who can fit the bill today.  Somebody that will have you hanging on their every word.

But I look around and none of the so-called front-runners do IT for me.  Even Scott Walker seems a bit too nerdy for the top of any ticket.

He/She needs to be a dynamic speaker.  One that doesn't need a teleprompter.

Don't laugh...the other day I was listening to Rush Limbaugh get into one of his inspired rants and I thought....why not, in addition to delving into children's books...write speeches for a gifted Republican speaker.  He had me mesmerized the other day.  Even got a tear in my eye.

All the front-runners seem a bit...as you said about yourself...GUN SHY.  Too guarded.  Not conversational enough to hold an audience.

I wish Gary Sinese was interested in making speeches...written by Rush.  LOL!
