Passengers onboard a recent U.S. Airways flight from Portland, Oregon to Charlotte, North Carolina were shocked and angry after a flight attendant mistreated an Army Ranger who was wearing a chest full of medals.

Passengers told Channel 9 that First Sergeant Albert Marle asked a flight attendant if he could hang up his uniform jacket to keep it from getting wrinkled. The flight attendant, in a harsh tone, said the service is available only to first class passengers and refused to let other passengers (who volunteered) switch seats with him:

Those on the flight claimed the flight attendant even yelled at passengers who tried to ask other attendants.

“When he asked if he could hang his coat up to keep from getting wrinkled, he had a chest full of medals — many deployments. All she had to say was, ‘Yes,’” said Cliff Autrey, who was on the plane.

Autrey said he’s a top-tier member of the frequent flier program but is considering switching.

According to officials at Fort Bragg, according to the images posted online of his uniform, he is a Ranger qualified (black and gold metal banner on his left pocket flap), a Pathfinder qualified (metal insignia with the gold wing), Air Assault qualified (silver metal insignia with the wings and front view of a helicopter), Special Forces trained and most likely in a SF unit (aqua and gold metal banner over the Ranger banner/he is currently serving in an airborne unit (silver jump wings above his ribbons)/SF unit crest designating his unit affiliation (metal insignia to the right of his right lapel).

Clearly, someone who has bravely served our country deserves – at the very least – common courtesy from flight attendants. This Army Ranger represents our country and didn’t want his uniform to be wrinkled on his flight.

Please share this story if you believe the men and women of the military deserve the utmost respect.
