Forcing a child to do something against his will is a form of violence. To me, this suggests that you can teach non violence with a threat of violence.
I disagree, but maybe I should have just worded it better. Truth be told I figured everybody would understand what I was saying, but once again Dan manages to amaze me. I do not want to use physical pain to scare my son into behaving. I think when my son is upset because I spanked him it hurts me more than it hurts him.
