Kurdish forces say ISIL military leader killed in Ninawa

IRBIL, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Kurdish armed forces said on Tuesday that it was able to eliminate the military commander of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) during fighting in Ninawa province eastern Mosul.
A source from the Kurdish forces (Peshmerga) said its forces "killed Abu Abdullah, formerly known as Abu Sumaya, a military commander of ISIL in Ninawa during an operation to liberate villages in east Mosul." A different source in the Peshmerga said that the Kurdish forces gained control of five villages in the Khazar area, west of Irbil after the expulsion of ISIL forces inside them, adding that such operation was with the help of US fighter jets.
