I wonder if that Angry Fellow knows that there have been cases where a black cop has shot and killed an unarmed white teen?

Believe me, I will.  When two young men leave police work because they, themselves, are afraid of some of the officers they work with, we all ought to be afraid.

I'm with sink. They're out of control--everywhere. I don't think a minor infraction like selling cigarettes and resisting arrest should get you a death sentence.

by Charlie Spiering 12 Aug 2014, 6:02 AM PDT

Al Sharpton has boarded a plane for St. Louis following rioting and looting that broke out in the city as mobs protested the death of Michael Brown. Brown is the 18-year-old African American male who was shot and killed by police.

Early Tuesday morning, Sharpton wrote on Twitter:

On the flight headed to St. Louis to meet w/ the parents of Michael Brown, the unarmed 18 year old killed by police. Must fight w/ dignity
    — Reverend Al Sharpton (@TheRevAl) August 12, 2014

Police in riot gear fired tear gas and bean bag rounds to quell crowds of protesters on Monday night, arresting at least five people.

Sharpton was quick to react to the tragedy after speaking with the family in the wake of the incident, vowing that his National Action Network would respond.

“I just spoke with Leslie McSpadden, the grandfather of Michael Brown. He has asked me to come to St. Louis in light of the police killing of his grandson to assist the family in achieving a fair investigation and justice," he posted on his website. "I assured him that National Action Network will stand with the family, as we have done for families around the country and assist in any way that we can."

St. Louis cops use ‘beanbag rounds’ after reports of protesters throwing rocks
Published August 12, 2014
FoxNews.com

FERGUSON, Mo. –  Police in riot gear fired tear gas into a crowd of protesters in a St. Louis suburb where an unarmed black teenager had been fatally shot by police over the weekend, as tension rose even amid calls for collective calm.

Between two nights of unrest, a community forum hosted by the local NAACP chapter Monday night drew hundreds to a sweltering church in Ferguson, the nearly 70 percent black St. Louis County suburb where an unarmed 18-year-old, Michael Brown, was shot multiple times by a police officer.

Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said a large crowd that gathered throughout Monday at the site of a burned-out convenience store turned rowdy at nightfall, throwing rocks at police. Officers used tear gas and shot "beanbag rounds" meant to stun them, he said.

Fox2Now.com reported that one person was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained from a rubber bullet. Photographs from the scene showed police wearing helmets and dressed like SWAT teams.

St. Louis County police spokesman Brian Schellman said there were at least five arrests and no reports of looting. Nearly three dozen people were arrested following a candlelight vigil Sunday night when crowds burned stores, vandalized vehicles, assaulted reporters and taunted officers.

"People are tired. They have reached the end of their rope," said Ruth Latchison Nichols after the NAACP forum, where many more were left waiting outside once the pews reached capacity. "Enough is enough. This is a state of emergency."

National NAACP President Cornell William Brooks implored residents to "turn your anger into action" while condemning the violent response to Brown's death.

"To sneak around under the cover of darkness, to steal, to loot, to burn down your neighborhood -- this does not require courage," he said. "Courage is when you strive for justice."

"Martin Luther King did not live and die so that we may steal and lie in the middle of the night," he added.

The FBI has opened an investigation into Brown's death, looking into possible civil rights violations. Witnesses have said that Brown had his hands raised when the unidentified officer approached with his weapon drawn and fired repeatedly.

Brown's parents have been among those calling for calm. His family, who had planned to drop him off at a technical college Monday to begin his studies, have asked people to share any information and videos they might have related to the shooting.

Authorities have been vague about what led the officer to open fire, saying only that the shooting -- which is being investigated by the St. Louis County police at the smaller city's request -- was preceded by a scuffle of some kind with a man in which the officer's weapon discharged once inside a patrol car.

Investigators have refused to publicly disclose the race of the officer, who is now on administrative leave. But Phillip Walker said he was on the porch of an apartment complex overlooking the scene when he heard a shot and saw a white officer with Brown on the street.

Brown "was giving up in the sense of raising his arms and being subdued," Walker told The Associated Press. The officer "had his gun raised and started shooting the individual in the chest multiple times." The officer then "stood over him and shot him" after the victim fell wounded.

Dorian Johnson offered a similar account, telling KMOV-TV that he and Brown were walking home from a convenience store when a police officer told them to get out of the street and onto the sidewalk. Johnson said they kept walking, which caused the officer to confront them from his car and again after getting out of the vehicle.

Johnson said the first time the officer fired, he and Brown got scared and ran away.

"He shot again, and once my friend felt that shot, he turned around and put his hands in the air, and he started to get down," Johnson said. "But the officer still approached with his weapon drawn and fired several more shots."

"We wasn't causing harm to nobody," Johnson said. "We had no weapons on us at all."

Walker said that he did not see a scuffle or the circumstances that preceded the first gunshot.

Jackson, the Ferguson police chief, said there's no video footage of the shooting from the apartment complex or from any police dashboard cameras or body-worn cameras that the department recently bought but has not yet put to use.

Some civil rights leaders have drawn comparisons between Brown's death and that of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was fatally shot by a Florida neighborhood watch organizer who was later acquitted of murder charges.

"Instead of celebrating his future, they are having to plan his funeral," said Benjamin Crump, a family attorney who also represented Martin's relatives after he was slain in 2012 in Florida.

"I don't want to sugarcoat it," Crump added. Brown "was executed in broad daylight."

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/08/11/5-Race-Riots-in-Obamas-Post-Racial-America

by Ben Shapiro 11 Aug 2014

Riots and looting in Ferguson, Missouri, over the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown by a police officer represent just the latest spate of race-based mass violence to break out in President Obama’s post-racial America. When Obama was elected in 2008, many Americans hoped that racial conflict in the country would calm. Instead, precisely the reverse seems to have occurred.

Not all riots across the country have been racial in nature, of course. Occupy Wall Street participated in riots repeatedly in 2011, and May Day protesters rioted in Santa Cruz in 2010 and Seattle in 2013, for example. There have also been repeated riots on college campuses over incidents ranging from sporting events to frat parties.

But with every controversial police shooting of a minority victim, the possibility of riots looms these days. That’s been true since well before President Obama took office, thanks to a racial grievance industry based on the tacit threat of violence. But President Obama has done little to tamp down that industry and much to energize it.

Aside from the current violence in Missouri, here are the worst mass racial violence incidents of the past few years:

Oscar Grant Riots. In 2009, shortly after President Obama’s election, police officer Johannes Mehserle shot black transit passenger Oscar Grant in Oakland, California. While Mehserle was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2010, rioters took advantage of the situation anyway, trashing police cars and forcing Mayor Ron Dellums to take shelter in City Hall. Local businesses were vandalized. In the end, some 120 arrests were made. That violence was not the first surrounding Grant’s killing – right after Grant’s killing, rioters engaged in vandalism, as well as attacks on a police officer. Grant’s mother told the media, “I am begging the citizens not to use violent tactics, not to be angry. I know it’s a very frustrating time, but Oscar would not want to see all the violence that’s going on. He would not want to see the fires, he would not want to see this. You’re hurting people who have nothing to do with the situation.”

Trayvon Martin Violence. After George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder in his shooting of black teenager Trayvon Martin, local rioters in Los Angeles began “stomping cars and breaking windows.” A television reporter and cameraman were assaulted by a crowd of criminals. Looters attempted to break into a local Walmart. About 150 criminals took part in the riot. In San Bernardino, eleven protesters were arrested after throwing bricks at passing cars. A white man was robbed by three black men in Washington, D.C., and was allegedly told by his assailants, “This is for Trayvon Martin.” In Baltimore, a Hispanic man was allegedly chased by a mob of black youths shouting, “This is for Trayvon.” President Obama said regarding Trayvon Martin during the ongoing investigation, “My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon.” Obama’s Department of Justice even headed to Sanford, Florida, to pursue an investigation against Zimmerman.

Manuel Diaz Violence. After 25-year-old suspected gang member Manuel Diaz ran from police and was shot to death in 2012, local residents began throwing objects at police officers. Soon, that situation escalated, with the Orange County Register reporting, “At least five people were reported hurt in the unrest, with crowds setting fires, smashing windows and throwing rocks and other projectiles at officers in riot gear who fired non-lethal rounds at demonstrators refusing to disperse.”

Kimini Gray Riots. When 16-year-old Kimani Gray was killed by police after allegedly pointing a handgun at them, riots broke out in Brooklyn in 2013. A crowd of 200 people, according to the New York Daily News, left a vigil site chanting, “NYPD, KKK, how many kids did you kill today.” Then things really went wrong: “things quickly got out of hand as some protesters tried to climb on police motorcycles. Men and women were pepper-sprayed and thrown to the ground and handcuffed.” That incident followed a similar vigil gone wrong the night before, when according to the NYPD, “a large, disorderly group [began] throwing bottles at police.” The crowd in that incident trashed a Rite Aid and robbed the store. Storefronts were also smashed.

These are incidents of mass violence, not merely individual crime incidents. And such incidents are testimony to the continuing sense of racial injustice purveyed by the media and the Obama administration.

This is SOP when you have civilian airspace that police helicopters need to operate over.  This directly prevents some TV station chopper, or private airplane rubber-necker from interfering with police aircraft.

Considering the violence and duration of these riots so far I am not surprised that law enforcement is doing this.  I would be more surprised if they did not.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/08/12/Al-Sharpton-In-Missouri-We-Did-Not-Come-to-Divide-The-City

by Charlie Spiering 12 Aug 2014, 12:37 PM PDT

MSNBC host and president of the National Action Network Rev. Al Sharpton held a press conference after meeting with the parents of Michael Brown, an African-American teenager that was shot by a police officer in a St. Louis suburb.

Poised squarely before the cameras, Sharpton demanded justice for the Brown family.

“This is not a cause for them; this is their child. This is not some prop for politics; this is their child,” he said, referring to the parents.

Sharpton also criticized members of the community who used the tragedy to exhibit violence.

“To become violent in Michael Brown’s name is to betray the gentle giant that he was,” Sharpton said, reminding listeners that Brown was an “unarmed gentleman.”

“Don’t be so angry that you distort the image of who his mother and father told us he was,” he said.

Sharpton called for the federal government to take over the investigation of the case, criticizing the local police department for not releasing the name of the officer involved in the shooting.

“We did not come to divide this city; we came to bring this city on one accord,” Sharpton said. “But one accord means that we have equal protection under the law.”

Sharpton criticized those who wanted to silence him and the rest of the community.

“There are those who are saying ‘peace,’ but they really just mean ‘quiet’… we want real peace; we don’t want to just be told to shut up and suffer in silence,” he said.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
Quote
Sharpton says Michael Brown's family deserves justice and the facts

The Rev. Al Sharpton, clergy and the family of Michael Brown urged for peace, prayer and a continued push for justice for Michael Brown during a 20-minute press conference in front of the Old Courthouse in downtown St. Louis.

Sharpton, the family, their attorney and clergy walked arm-and-arm across Broadway prior to the start of the event. About 50 people and twice as many reporters calmly waited outside the courthouse prior to the start.

Sharpton and others who spoke urged supporters to attend a 7 p.m. gathering at Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, located on Glen Owen Drive about a half-mile from where Brown, 18, was shot and killed by an unnamed Ferguson police officer. Witnesses say the young man was unarmed and shot multiple times.

The event is scheduled at the same time Ferguson Mayor James Knowles and Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson are scheduled to attend another gathering at Christ the King United Church of Christ on Old Halls Ferry Road.

Sharpton said Brown was killed while showing an arms-in-the-air surrender sign to the police officer.

"That's the sign you got to deal with," Sharpton said. "Deal with the last sign he had shown. We want answers why that sign was not respected."

Sharpton said he did not come to St. Louis to stir up further controversy but to aid the family in finding out the facts and gaining justice for Brown.

"I know you are angry," he told the group. "I know this is outrageous. When I saw that picture (of Brown lifeless on the ground), it rose up in me in outrage. But we cannot be more outraged than his mom and dad. If they can hold their heads in dignity, then we can hold our heads up in dignity."

Baltimore-based pastor Jamal Bryant later spoke of Brown's death as a national civil rights issue.

"St. Louis is in fact bearing witness for America," he said. "The Band-Aid has been ripped off, and all of America is seeing the open wound of racism exists."

Bryant asked people to pray daily at 6 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. until Brown's family gets justice. He also urged people to conduct a fast tomorrow to show "that we are in fact hungry for justice."
