The New York Civil Liberties Union came out against Mayor de Blasio's plan to create municipal ID cards for undocumented New Yorkers, charging the law could jeopardize residents’ privacy and leave them vulnerable to an immigration crackdown.

The group objects to provisions in a bill letting the city hold on to sensitive documents people will submit to get the cards, saying they could be misused by law enforcement.
