Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is in stable condition six days after being released from Taliban captivity, but he still has not spoken to his parents.
According to Fox News, Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren said, "His health continues to improve daily. He is conversing with medical staff and becoming more engaged in his treatment plan. He is resting better and showing signs of improvement."
Warren said there is "no timeline set for the 28-year-old Bergdahl to make his first phone call to his parents in Hailey, Idaho, or to be transferred from a U.S. military hospital in Germany to an Army hospital in Texas."
National Security officials have justified negotiating with terrorists to secure Bergdahl's freedom by pointing to a video obtained in January in which "he did not look well." The National Security officials say certain senators were told during a "classified ... closed congressional" meeting that the exchange to secure Bergdahl's freedom was made to save his life.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is not buying the narrative. Graham said, "I don't believe any of this."
