Hillary Clinton is the top choice for Ohio voters as she leads a pack of potential Republican 2016 opponents, according to a new poll.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan come the closest to Clinton, each trailing the former secretary of state by 7 percentage points, a new Ohio poll released by Quinnipiac University on Thursday shows. Clinton tops Rubio 47 percent to 40 percent and Ryan 48 percent to 41 percent.
Clinton, who won the 2008 Democratic primary in Ohio, beats New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul by 8 points each.
While Clinton also leads former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush 48 percent to 39 percent, she received more than 50 percent only once, in a matchup against Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, 51 percent to 37 percent.
The poll was conducted May 7-12 and surveyed 1,174 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
