Where is the so-called Republican leadership? As per the WSJ, currently trying to get into bed with Maxine Waters in order to repeal the GOP's own reforms to the flood insurance entitlement program in order to keep massive taxpayer subsidies in place.
I find my inherent sense of optimism under great stress these days. America is today set adrift upon a sea of complacency, amorality, willful dependence and hopelessness.
Our leadership class, far from seeking solutions to escalating national problems, largely seeks to manipulate them to their momentary personal and political advantage.
At the same time, any and all voices warning of the dangers we face are shouted down, mocked and insulted, frequently by the communications media, who are themselves largely integrated with the Ruling Class and fiercely protective of their common interests.
It will take ever more courage to speak up and speak out. But those of us who still believe in the universal values of personal liberty and independence and in the vital role of the United States in promoting them, still must speak out.
While we still can.
