Obama also got low marks on his handling of the issues voters identified as most important to them. Asked to name their top priorities for Obama and Congress this year, 31 percent said the economy or jobs and 18 percent said health care.
Voters disapprove of the job Obama is doing on the economy 56 percent to 39 percent, and they disapprove 59 percent to 36 percent of his handling of health care. Those percentages are worse than the underwater approval rating he gets overall, with 54 percent disapproving of his job as president to 40 percent approving.
Three-quarters of respondents said they are somewhat or very dissatisfied with the way things are going in the nation today, compared with 24 percent who are somewhat or very satisfied.
The negative attitude toward Obama is consistent with Quinnipiac’s recent polling on the subject.
Quinnipiac surveyed 1,933 registered voters from Jan. 15-19 for the poll, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.
