GOP leader asks: Where's the Senate?
By Julian Pecquet - 09/29/13 10:08 AM ET

House Republicans' fourth-ranking member put the blame for the looming government shutdown squarely on Senate Democrats on Sunday.

Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (R-Wash.), the vice-chairwoman of the Republican Conference, said the House was in session past midnight to vote on a spending bill that delays President Obama's healthcare law. The Senate is not scheduled to come back to vote on the measure until Monday.

“This is unacceptable that [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said 'oh, we're not even going to come back today,' ” McMorris-Rodgers told CNN's "State of the Union." “Oct. 1 is right around the corner. Why isn't the Senate here?”

Senate Democrats and President Obama have said the healthcare law delay is unacceptable, all but ensuring a government shutdown starting Tuesday.

McMorris-Rodgers said Republicans have a duty to delay the law, arguing that it's not ready for prime-time and that people are “panicked.” She refused to get trapped into saying whether delaying the law is worth a shutdown, however, sticking to the GOP line that Senate Democrats “are the ones threatening a shutdown.”

“They need to have this debate in the Senate,” she said. “People are panicked in this country over higher premiums, lack of access.

“It's really up to the Senate. The Senate needs to act, they need to act quickly.”

The Senate has the MSM watching their backs. Besides, they know what they are going to do, so don't feel the need for meetings and speeches. It will all be token bs, anyway.

Stop worrying about who gets the blame!  Just do the right thing, and keep doing the right thing.  The public is going to blame EVERYBODY, and that means senate Dems are going to pay the biggest price.  The fact that Manchin budged this week should be quite instructive.  Their phones are ringing from Millennials and unions urging them to stop this monster.  TheDems in congress are being hung out to dry by the president who "refuses to negotiate."  They know it.

Let the shutdown happen, gut out the first tough week or so, and then watch this turn out to be the smartest political move the GOP has made in a generation.  If anyone saw Ted Cruz this morning on MTP, you saw how the left has nothing but vacuous sound bites to stand on.  The Democrats cannot defend Obamacare, only that it is "not worth shutting the government down over."  Once the government IS shut down, then they are going to have to debate Obamacare, aren't they?

There are so many questions I would like for the republicans to get in front of a camera and ask:

1--We can't justify a health care program that put the IRS in charge.  How do we know they will be fair and impartial?

2.  We can't justify a program that treats certain citizens differently than others.  Why is the federal government exempt from a law they wrote themselves?

3. We can't justify a program that will be genocide for the older generation.

Love all your questions, Olivia, but #2 is a corker. ALL Republicans should be stressing that ALL the time.

Cruz hammered away at #2 this morning on MTP.  He was very articulate and persuasive.

What's so disgusting is the democrats will probably get away with "special favors for special people."  Average Americans should be outraged over this but most of them don't even know it's happening.  :nometalk:

Equal protection under the law.  Various groups are exempted, not federal employees but religious and racial groups.  Could't this be fought under the 13, 14, 15 Amendments?
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.
