Harry Reid derides GOP ‘weird caucus’

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a new term to describe Republicans fixated on defunding Obamacare: They’re just plain “weird.”

The Nevada Democrat used that word several times during a news conference on Friday, defining such conservatives as part of the “weird caucus” willing to go to the brink of a shutdown to choke off funding for the president’s health care law.

“They are interested in shutting down the government,” Reid told reporters. “We know there’s some of these people who are part of the weird caucus over there who want to shut the government down. They’ve said so publicly.”

And to a reporter who asked why Democrats wouldn’t be blamed if House Republicans sent back a modified funding bill and the Senate refused to take it up, Reid responded: “You are using a weird caucus math.”

Reid, not known to hold his tongue when talking about the GOP, also insisted that Democrats would send a funding bill with any GOP changes right back to the House, “stripped of all the craziness that they have.” And he wondered out loud of Republicans and Obamacare: “Why don’t they get a life and talk about something else?

“This is hard for me to continue to say this,” Reid said, closing the press conference. “This is a law. Four years old. Declared constitutional. Let them find something else to be weird about.”

It would be really keen if a Senator went 19th century and beat Harry with a walking stick.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.
