More Obama aides knew of IRS audit; Obama not told

WASHINGTON (AP) — White House chief of staff Denis McDonough and other senior presidential advisers knew in late April that an upcoming report was likely to find that IRS employees had inappropriately targeted conservative political groups.

That disclosure on Monday expanded the known circle of top officials who were aware of the audit beyond those identified earlier by the White House.

The White House says McDonough and the other advisers did not tell President Barack Obama about the impending report, leaving him to learn the results from news reports later.

The White House defended the decision to keep the president in the dark, with press secretary Jay Carney saying Obama was comfortable with the fact that "some matters are not appropriate to convey to him, and this is one of them."

In a way I hope they do double down on the "Obama didn't know" story and instead continue throwing all manner of IRS staff under the bus because that will in the end generate much wider disaffection with the IRS than with Obastard and, quite simply, the rot and corruption in the IRS goes much deeper than just the noxious effects of one thuggish President.  It's time, once again, to take the hedge-clippers to the IRS as was done in 1996 and 1998.

Glenn Beck said tomorrow night he plans to cover absolutely everything Obama claims he knows or knew nothing about... said when you put it all into one place it is amazing how utterly out of touch he is with anything about anything in his administration -- OR he is a liar of the highest order.
