That's the crux of it, the mistaken and supremely arrogant belief that human beings control the weather.
Not only that, that humans can somehow know exactly how our behavior controls the weather and can concoct solutions that undo it, in short order, without any side effect.
For instance, particulate matter (smoke, dust, etc.) is known to have a much more direct effect on climate than CO2. It blocks sunlight from even getting into the atmosphere. Its effects, according to scientists, have effectively counteracted any effect increased CO2 has had. However, the AGW promoters try to downplay the role of particulate matter.
Anyway, speaking of CO2... it seems that no matter what we do, it increases anyway, at least according to the breathless report issued a few days ago. Such is the effect of life on Earth. It takes in oxygen and expels CO2. Unless the planet undergoes a mass death, it will increase. (And before we start talking about trees and plants, remember, they also undergo respiration and take back some of the oxygen they create in photosynthesis, creating yet more CO2, especially in winter. Their effect, at best, can slow it down but cannot totally solve the problem.)
