Actor Kelsey Grammer once lost a small fortune after investing in a failed windmill technology project.

The former "Frasier" star reveals his bank balance took a serious hit after he agreed to funnel his hard-earned cash into a new energy plan -- but it didn't work out.

He tells TMZ.com, "It's not really a friendly environment for new technology. It really isn't. You have to have a way in. Big wind is doing okay, but it was a small wind investment, and it cost me a lot of money. ... I'm okay, but I didn't make up for it. It's just one of those things that's just a straight loss."

Grammer refuses to divulge just how much the bad investment cost him, but admits it was at least six-figures.

Maybe if he'd hired some real financial advisors he might not have taken such a bath - or perhaps we should say not have gotten such a blow job.

Really?  Windmills are a new technology?

Maybe I could interest him in investing in a new "solar" clothes drying technique.

 *hmmmm*

I always thought Kelsey Grammar was a conservative.  I'm surprised he'd pick a venture like "big wind" at all.
