Five Guys: Obamacare will boost burger prices
« on: March 12, 2013, 05:52:16 am »
The fight over Obamacare, so far held at the 30,000-foot level, is about to hit home. The latest impact hot off the grill: prices of burgers and hot dogs at Five Guys, the national chain that started in Washington, are going to rise to cover the president's mandated insurance coverage.

"Any added costs are going to have to be passed on," said Mike Ruffer, a Five Guys franchise holder with eight of the popular restaurants in the Raleigh-Durham, N.C. area. He will need all the profits from at least one of his eight outlets just to cover his estimated added $60,000-a year in new Obamacare costs.

What's more, he's iced plans to build another three restaurants until after the administration explains the exact rules and penalties employers will face. The law's plan to have those available March 1 has been pushed back to October...

Ruffer initially thought he would escape the law because he created each restaurant as its own company. But the law doesn't recognize that distinction, so now he's trying to determine if he can fire enough workers, or cut enough hours, to slide out of the grasp of Obamacare.

Restaurants will be closing all over the country (as if it weren't already difficult enough to make it in that business).

The tip of the iceberg. ObamaCare will drive up the price of everything.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid Americans have become, and how dependent those stupid Americans are on the Obama media.

The public is told there is no inflation, even though all of us have to go to the grocery store and gas station. But, there's no grumbling from the public, the Obama media keeps them sedated.

These price increases will be largely ignored, and if they somehow gain notice, they will be played off as good, because we are providing care for those that need it.

It's a kind of collective insanity. This must have been what it was like in the last stages of the Roman empire.

Or the early stages of the Third Reich.

People on food stamps aren't generally concerned about prices. After all, the food is free to them. I went back to cooking like Mom did for us 10 kids, and I did for three husky boys, lots of soups, casseroles, and meals that I can freeze for later. Two of my sons are recipients of left-overs because I cannot cook small meals. Too many modern parents never learned to cook, so their kids don't know how, either. Like Honey Boo-Boos mother, who makes spaghetti sauce with ketchup and butter. Good grief!
