The 'END' IS HERE!

**  Japan will be the first to fall.   A net importer and an aging, xenophobic population

**  We're living in a false economy since the Gold Standard changed and put us in a debt-ridden economy.

**  Most dangerous time in history for guarding assets.   Gold and precious metals should be purchased outside the USA.  We're ground zero.

**  Setting up a massive community in Chile for Libertarians who want to escape

My first instinct is to flee the USA, and I have actually looked into going to Chile - but that is such a scary thing to contemplate.  What if you end up jumping out of the frying pan into the fire?  At least I know my way around here and speak the language of the "locals".

I feel an increasing urgency to locate to a place in a more remote area here in my state.  A place where we can be more self-sufficient and there aren't a lot of people around.  Running out of time though, my parents are basically helpless right now and that impedes my leaving where I am now.

Things are heating up, that's for sure.

A lot of the prognosticators who predicted doom as a result of going off the gold standard, beginning with Harry Browne in the 1970's, turned out to be right about the value of precious metals.  But it took much, much longer for the inevitable to occur than they predicted because they underestimated the capabilities of establishment managers to keep things moving.  The Soviets kept a far more invasive economy than ours going for some 70 years.  We are nowhere near where the Soviets were.  It will take quite a while before we are.

Personally, I don't see the system collapsing in my lifetime, and I am 60 years old.  I do see a gradual tightening of the economy from a free economy to a controlled economy.  The smart play for the investor is to have assets on both sides: over the radar and below the radar.  But I would not underestimate the establishment.  They will do whatever is necessary to protect public employees, public pensions and public institutions.  And that includes mass murder and mayhem.   Given the weaponry and sophistication they have, I would not be betting against them, nor would I be completely invested with them.  As I say, keep some assets under the radar (including foreign countries), and some assets over the radar.

I do agree that this is no time to try to get rich.  This is a time to secure what you have.

For Krugman to say that announcing an outer space invasion could help save the country.....to calling for a Trillion Dollar coin....you know the END ( as Founded) IS NEAR!

Australia isn't a half-bad choice.  They do have socialist nonsense there as well, but the people are so much more friendly, and the country so empty that it's a lot easier to get peace of mind than it is here.

There's a reason Mel "mad max" came to the US, and it wasn't because of his affable Aussie personality.

They're also moving in the right direction in regard to governmental stability, the same way Canada is headed. They still have a "universal health care" system but let's be frank, the U.S. is pretty much the last holdout on that front and that's why we're stuck subsidizing the rest of the world's health care.

Our Commonwealth friends have shown a willingness, in most other departments, to consider conservatism. As the U.S. continues to be overrun by third-world socialist sympathizers, places like Canada and Australia will become more attractive for American commoners.

Even so, viz. the universal health care system, I have a really good friend from undergrad who emigrated there about 18 years ago.  She and her husband (an Aussie) recently told me that their system is showing some serious signs of stress.
