Baseball great, Curt Schilling, broke, to sell memorabilia

Kinda sad. Schilling was recently one of the candidates for the Baseball Hall of Fame. As a pitcher he was overpowering but outside of baseball he has had little success.

Ex-Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling - whose video game company took a spectacular dive into bankruptcy last year - is selling the blood-stained sock he wore during the 2004 World Series.

Schilling's travails, however, are only part of the story.

Schilling's company, 38 Studios, was lured to Providence, Rhode Island, from Massachusetts with a $75million loan guarantee in 2010.

In May, it laid off all its employees and it filed for bankruptcy in June.
 
The state is now likely responsible for some $100million related to the deal, including interest.

Once again politicians playing at being investors, with OPM of course. Voters in states like RI constantly elect these types of clowns so I can't feel too sorry for them.
