Regarding PPP polls, worth noting: last poll they ran on Walker recall said "race tightening" w/ Walker leading only by 3. He won by 7.

Some interesting stuff in that pdf underlying the poll.  In particular, the respondent base self-identified as 39% democrat 36% republican.  Keeping in mind that the relative percentages will change from poll to poll, suggests that the weighting should be, maybe, D+3, not D+7, which is what many of the pollsters are using.
