I wasn't sure exactly which forum to put this in.  Now that the debates are done with, would a general election news type forum be appropriate?

Stephen Hayes ?@stephenfhayes
Surprising RT @jeffzeleny: Des Moines Register endorses Mitt Romney, the first Republican presidential candidate since Nixon.

Steve Doocy ?@sdoocy
Last time Des Moines Register endorsed a GOPer, 1972 and Richard Nixon. DMR says #MittRomney offers a fresh economic vision.

Moe Lane ?@moelane
The funniest thing about the Des Moines Register endorsement of Romney, of course, is the way that it made Obama humiliate himself first.

I have come to believe this man... this man... is the right man.  Please Lord, I am not an overly prayerful man, but please... lift him up!  :0001: :patriot:
For the progressive, there is very little to love about the United States. Washington, Jefferson, Madison? A bunch of rotten slaveholders, hypocrites, and cowards even when their hearts were in the right places. The Declaration of Independence? A manifesto for the propertied classes. The Constitution? An artifact of sexism and white supremacy. The sacrifices in the great wars of the 20th century? Feeding the poor and the disenfranchised into the meat-grinder of imperialism. The gifts of Carnegie, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Morgan, Astor? Blood money from self-aggrandizing robber barons. Nat Rev

With this...

I was hoping!

Is it really their first republican endorsement since Nixon?
"The Tea Party has a right to feel cheated.

When does the Republican Party, put in the majority by the Tea Party, plan to honor its commitment to halt the growth of the Federal monolith and bring the budget back into balance"?

I love the effect of the side-by-side comparison of those two photos.  Obama does not come off the better in that comparison.
