Yep and the media is saying the WH is thinking of pushing election day out because of the hurricane... seems to me time is not Obama's friend here.

They said "national emergency"   :thud:

Haven't we all learned by now Obama is omnipotent and can do pretty much what he wants.........  Think Venezuela.

He doesn't. If a state can't hold a fair election, they have to find some other way to choose its electors (selecting electors for the Electoral College, which is what we do when we vote on Election Day, is a state issue).

Again, on what basis?  I would like to see express authority that allows him to interfere with the elections.  If he does a thing, then it's a coup, plain and simple; the military should then simply lay down their arms, return to their barracks en masse, and refuse to comply with any order originating from the White House.

Beats me.

Election Day in the United States is the day set by law for the general elections of public officials. It occurs on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The earliest possible date is November 2 and the latest possible date is November 8. The next election will be held on November 6, 2012.

So once again this administration thinks it can just Ignore the law and do whatever the hell it wants?

Exactly.  If the Obama (mal)administration attempts to shut down the normal election day - for whatever reason - it will in practical effect be a coup.
