A-Rod Benched Yet Again.....

DETROIT (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez has been benched again by the New York Yankees, who also dropped center fielder Curtis Granderson from the starting lineup while trying to avoid elimination Wednesday.

The slumping Yankees trail 3-0 in the AL championship series against Detroit. Manager Joe Girardi has juggled his lineup throughout the postseason, trying to find the right combination.

From Girardi's POV.....you only get 27 outs.  Playing on the road?  You need every one of them.

Watching videos of Rodriquez' ABs during the postseason?  You know Girardi has seen them.  A-Rod has seen them.

He admits as much in that weird interview he gave earlier today.  He essentially said that he knows that he has not produced and understands what "Joe" is trying to do.  Win.

A-Rod has been an automatic out.  And he's looking ugly while doing it.

He said today that he hit two lasers and feels that the team is a better team with him in the lineup.  He's seen things change quickly.

My opinion is that maybe the Yankees are starting to believe in "Moneyball" and recognize that there's hits and runs on the bench.  These big contracts are killing them.  Verducci pointed out today that there's $80Million worth of Yankee beef that wasn't in the lineup at the end of Game 3.

For the first time since 1976, the Yankees were swept away in a 7 game series.

Detroit wins the American League Pennant!

....makes me wonder why the Orioles had such difficulty with the Yankees for the Tigers to dispatch them so effortlessly.  Are the Tigers THAT good?

Tiger pitchers gave up seven runs in 39 innings.  Yeah, they're that good.

It's fascinating that Jim Leyland once again is the skipper of a World Series participant.  What's this now?  Three different organizations?
