One day after a vicious debate performance, President Barack Obama has quipped that he is 'still trying to figure out how to get the hang' of debates but ventured that he is improving as he goes along.
Despite the fierce attacks on Mitt Romney, there was bad news for the president on Wednesday as his Republican challenger extended his lead in the Gallup tracking poll to six points, picking up the backing of 51 per cent of people, compared to 45 per cent for the incumbent.
Obama was speaking in Mount Vernon, Iowa, just hours after he was declared by many to be the winner of the debate in Long Island, New York, on Tuesday night.
'I’m still trying to figure out how to get the hang of this thing,' he said to laughter from a crowd inside a gym at Cornell College. 'We'll keep on improving as time goes on.
