Poll: Carter 63, Reagan 32

In 1980, Reagan looked unelectable. All the way to election day, when a final-week surge led to a 10-point landslide.

We lived in CA at the time, I remember we voted right after work, then came home to cook dinner and watch the returns... I was cooking Liver and Onions for dinner that night.. can still remember trying to not burn dinner as I kept staring at the TV telling us that Reagan was sweeping the country in a landslide... we were cheering in relief... you had to live through Nixon followed by Carter to know just how beaten down this country was by 1980...... Reagan was a breath of fresh air for the nation.
