oversampling groups that are sympathetic to Democrats, like mainline Protestants and people who make less than $50,000 a year.

Yeah, Protestants are real pro-Obama.  Perhaps a few of the very liberal denominations, but most are not going to vote for Obama and never were.

And I'd say it is people making less than $20,000 a year who are the most inclined to vote for Obama because they're not paying taxes and getting freebies.
