This is starting out with video of 911 and then Gary Sinese talking about how this affected him and how the Lt. Dan Band came about.......

So Gary Sinese based his character Lt. Dan on his brother in law who was in Vietnam, he was on his way up the ladder to possibly General when he got cancer and passed away...

What a great two hours.  That man really loves our troops (and our country)... and from all the scenes in the special the troops return the appreciation; and he is so humble about it all.
