There may or may not be a blockbuster "mystery speaker" in the Republican National Convention Thursday night and it may or may not be Clint Eastwood.
Speculation has swirled over the last few days about an apparently unfilled slot in the convention program, with names from Eastwood to Colin Powell surfacing in the guessing game.
On a conference call with reporters this morning, Romney aides were tight-lipped when asked if Eastwood was the surprise -- or even if there was a surprise in the works.
"If there was a mystery speaker, then it wouldn't be a mystery anymore," Romney adviser Russ Schriefer said.
Asked simply whether there would be an unannounced speaker in the 10 o'clock hour, Schriefer said: "That's my comment."
