Liz Cheney blasts ‘war on women’

Liz Cheney said Tuesday Democrats were trying to take women “backward” and that they believe the “only things women care about are contraceptives.”

“I’m fed up with it,” Cheney said during an appearance on Fox News. “I’m really, really sort of at the end of my rope in terms of the Democratic Party claiming we have a ‘war on women.’ The Democratic Party seems to believe the only things women care about is government-funded contraceptives and government handouts from cradle to grave.”

Democratic claims of a Republican “War on Women” have focused on abortion rights and contraceptives, particularly on the GOP’s desire to stop federal funds for Planned Parenthood and more recently on Rep. Todd Akin’s (R-Mo.) comments about “legitimate rape” and pregnancy.

There has been speculation Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, may be preparing to run for office in her native Wyoming. The younger Cheney said women were more focused on the jobs and national security than on social issues.

“It’s completely condescending and really offensive as a woman,” Liz Cheney said. “The Democrats are sort of sidelining women on to these issues. Frankly, we’ve worked for decades and decades to become equal, it looks to me like the Democratic Party, frankly, is the party trying to take us backwards.”

The “backwards” language reflects Democratic claims that the GOP, by reviving debates on contraception, is trying to return America to the 1950s.

Maybe Liz is the "mystery speaker".
November 6, 2012, a day in infamy...the death of a republic as we know it.
