Katie Holmes insists on 'ironclad' clause in divorce settlement to 'ban Suri from ever attending Scientology parties or church'

Katie Holmes pushed to have an 'ironclad' clause included in her divorce settlement to limit daughter Suri's involvement with controversial religion, Scientology, a new report claims.

In the agreement, Suri will allegedly be prevented from attending any Scientology related parties and will not be taken to any of the organisation's churches.

The claims emerged the day after Katie, 32, and Tom Cruise, 50, rapidly concluded negotiations for their divorce agreement, just eleven days after the Dawson's Creek star filed to end their marriage.

Katie is thought to have won her main objective - sole custody of their little girl.

Peacemaker: Another report claims that Katie and Tom became less hostile when they realised what damage they could cause to Suri

'Under terms of the settlement, Suri isn’t permitted to be exposed to anything Scientology-related, and this includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc.

'Katie made sure that this was ironclad in the agreement,' a source told Radar Online.

Unlike Tom's other children, Isabella, now 19, and Connor, 17, Suri will also not be expected to attend a Scientology school.

Instead, Katie is thought to have enrolled her in one of New York's top private schools to continue her education, after spending her early years being home schooled.

Cruise's former auditor with the Church of Scientology, Marty Rathbun, said he believes the Mission Impossible star chose religion over his 6-year-old daughter, and was pushed for the sake of the church to reach a quick agreement.

The former high ranking Scientologist - who is now one of the church's biggest critics -  worked with Cruise extensively for several years before he left.

Rathbun told Radaronline.com: 'I think that Tom Cruise chose his religion over his daughter Suri, and I also think that David Miscavige (Church leader) pressured Cruise to settle the divorce quickly.'

Miscavige - said to be the third person in the couple's marriage - is Cruise's best friend and was the actor's best man when he married Holmes in Italy in 2005.

The newlyweds even honeymooned on leader  Miscavige's yacht.

Katie and Tom made no comment on the terms of the settlement yesterday, instead they released a joint statement affirming their commitment to their daughter.

'We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests.

'We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.'

Katie's lawyer Jonathan Wolfe said: 'This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.

'We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.'

Both parties allegedly feared that prolonged hostilities between them would only cause irreparable damage to Suri.

Suri will remain with Katie in New York, where they currently reside, and will allegedly be accompanied by her own nanny and team of bodyguards when she visits father Tom on weekly occasions.

Cruise, 50, is expected to pay a 'substantial' sum to his soon-to-be third ex-wife in property, assets and child support.

A pre-nuptial agreement is said to have limited the amount he was obliged to pay, but it's accepted that  he would almost have included a hefty 'goodwill' payoff to help bring talks to a speedy conclusion.

One celebrity lawyer speculated it could be as much as $50million.

Lisa Helfend Meyer told Celebuzz: 'I probably make the estimate between $20 million to, maybe, 40 to 50.'

Yesterday, 33-year-old Katie was seen enjoying a girls day out with her daughter.

She looked confident within herself, smiling for photographers while dressed casually in a double denim ensemble of flared jeans and a shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

The pair were seen taking a taxi to the Children's Museum of the Arts, which seems to be a new favourite with the child after they were spotted at the same venue last week with a group of friends.

Tom Cruise greeted with hugs after returning to movie set on Silver Screen bus gifted to him by Scientology bosses

By Daily Mail Reporter

While his estranged wife Katie Holmes is getting on with her daily life alongside six-year-old daughter Suri, Tom Cruise is throwing himself back into work.

Just hours after reaching a divorce settlement yesterday, the 50-year-old surfaced in June Lake, California, where he is continuing to shoot his sci-fi film Oblivion.

Today he was warmly greeted by cast and crew, with one brunette embracing him with a hug.

He had travelled in style from his Beverly Hills home to the set, arriving in a million-dollar Silver Screen bus gifted to him by Scientology bosses.

According to a 2005 memo leaked by Marty Rathbun, a former Scientologist who left the church in 2004, Cruise had demanded that the coach had a special drawer fitted in it full of slippers - to ensure that nobody walked on the vehicle with dirty shoes.

The memo reads: 'Cruise requested that a space be figured out for placement of slippers in the front of Silver Screen as he doesn’t want shoes on the carpet.

'This is figured out — there is a drawer at the entrance which can be used for this. He also stated that no one will be allowed to enter other than his personal assistants.'

The bachelor pad: Tom's Silver Screen bus was spotted on set, said to be a gift from Scientology leaders

Referring to Scientology leader David Miscavige, who Tom refers to as Chairman of the Board (COB), the memo continues: 'Mr Cruise also said that when Silver Screen arrives he isn’t going to set foot in it unless COB has been in first.'

As well as the Silver Screen bus, Tom is also believed to have received a selection of personalised motorbikes, and an aircraft hanger complete with a luxurious office, from the church.

Tom was seen along with his Silver Screen as he continued shooting new sci-fi movie Oblivion in Mammoth Lake Airport, California, yesterday.

Katie, meanwhile, was pictured out in New York with Suri, of whom she has gained sole custody.

A spokesman for Oblivion told E! News yesterday that Cruise will be filming scenes for the movie over the next few days.

Tom was in Iceland filming when he learned of 33-year-old Katie's intention to file for divorce.

Since then he has been keeping a low profile - and flew to Los Angeles for a sombre 50th birthday celebration last week, where he joined his adopted children Isabella, 19, and Conor, 17, from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman.

Speaking about the the out-of-court divorce settlement today, Cruise's lawyer Bert Fields told E! News: 'Tom is really pleased we got there, and so am I.'

Yesterday, Katie's lawyer has confirmed her highly-publicised divorce with Cruise has been settled, as reports emerged she will have 'sole custody' of their daughter.

It seems the couple have reached an agreement out of court, meaning the actor's beloved Scientology is no longer at risk of scrutiny with the religion's secrets being dissected during a trial.

Jonathan Wolfe said: 'This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed.'

Speaking to TMZ, he added: 'We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.

'We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution'.

According to TMZ, while Katie has sole custody of Suri, Tom will still get significant custodial time with his daughter.

Apparently the agreement also includes details on what Tom and Katie are allowed to tell Suri regarding religion, including Scientology.

The restrictions are eased as Suri gets older, the website reports.

A separate source, speaking to Radar, also revealed that Suri will remain with Katie in New York, where they currently reside, and will be accompanied by her own nanny and team of bodyguards when she visits father Tom on weekly occasions. However an insider who spoke to TMZ has disputed this.

The insider told Radar: 'Katie insisted that Suri's nanny and bodyguards always accompany her when she visits Tom... This will ensure a smooth and easy transition for Suri when she is with Tom.

'Suri is Katie's number one priority. Tom only has Scientologists that work for him and Katie insisted that her staff will always be with their daughter.

'Under terms of the settlement, Suri isn't permitted to be exposed to anything Scientology related and this includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc. Katie made sure that this was ironclad.'

Suri will also not be expected to attend a Scientology school, like Cruise’s adopted children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, Isabella and Conor did.

Fingers began pointing even before reasons of their split came to surface.

And earlier today, the rumours circulating their difference in religious opinion, notably the Cocktail actor's rigid Scientology beliefs, appear to have been confirmed in a joint statement from the couple.

Released by their representatives, the notice states that they will continue to work together as parents and 'express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs'.

Katie Holmes used a disposable cell phone to arrange her divorce from Tom Cruise, it has been reported.

The actress - who split from the Mission: Impossible star last month after five years of marriage – is believed to have been so intent to keep conversations with her attorneys private she contacted them via a throwaway phone given to her by a close friend.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Katie, 33, intended to keep her divorce plans from Tom, 50, and his staff until her shock June 29 announcement.

A source 'familiar with the divorce' told the newspaper by the time Katie and Cruise reached their divorce settlement on Monday she had hired three law firms in three different states.

The settlement marked a rapid conclusion to negotiations between the former couple's lawyers - just 11 days after the Dawson's Creek star filed to end their marriage.

Katie is thought to have won her main objective - primary custody of their six-year-old little girl, Suri.

Suri will remain with Katie in New York, where they currently reside, and will allegedly be accompanied by her own nanny and team of bodyguards when she visits father Tom on weekly occasions.

Tom is expected to pay a 'substantial' sum to his soon-to-be third ex-wife in property, assets and child support.

A pre-nuptial agreement is said to have limited the amount he was obliged to pay, but it's accepted that  he would almost have included a hefty 'goodwill' payoff to help bring talks to a speedy conclusion.

She is said to have also pushed to have an 'ironclad' clause included in the agreement limiting Suri's involvement with Tom's controversial religion, Scientology, according to RadarOnline.

'Under terms of the settlement, Suri isn’t permitted to be exposed to anything Scientology-related, and this includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc.

'Katie made sure that this was ironclad in the agreement,' a source told the website.

Unlike Tom's other children, Isabella, now 19, and Connor, 17, Suri will also not be expected to attend a Scientology school.

Instead, Katie is thought to have enrolled her in one of New York's top private schools to continue her education, after spending her early years being home schooled.

Katie and Tom - who married in Italy in 2006 - made no comment on the terms of the settlement yesterday; instead they released a joint statement affirming their commitment to their daughter.

'We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests.

'We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.'

Katie sat down with Elle magazine a mere six weeks before filing; in an interview set to hit stands on July 17, the actress opens up about growing into herself.

Admitting as a young girl she struggled with her sexual confidence, she said: 'I always felt like a little girl before... I didn't even know what sexy was.

'Anytime you feel good about yourself, you embody sexiness. It's almost like a power or a confidence or a secret.'

She also spoke about how she deals with confrontation.

'If something's not okay, then I make it known,. I will deal with things... the way my mom taught us girls how to be. She stressed listen, learn, always be strong and be true to yourself,' she said.

In previously-released quotes from the sit-down, Katie also brushed off any pressure to being 'Mrs Tom Cruise'.

'He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that,' she said.

  • Your what hurts??
All she needs now is good security and an iron clad restraining order.  She has her own professional agent and a family to fall back on.  Anything she can do to keep 'ol Creepy at arm's length is definitely warranted....

Tom has plans to keep Suri in Scientology: report
By BOB FREDERICKS
July 11, 2012

The TomKat war is just beginning — and it’s going to be bloody. Stunning new reports say the supposedly amicable divorce and custody agreement between Hollywood superstars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is a sham that isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

Insiders told Star magazine that the "Mission Impossible" star and devout Scientologist has concocted an evil, long-range plan to indoctrinate the couple’s 6-year-old daughter Suri into the wacky cult. And another source told US magazine the Tinseltown hunk had already subjected her to a creepy Scientology “audit.”

“Tom will do whatever it takes to make sure he comes out on top,” a source told Star.

“Everything is going on the line - the homes, the jets, the money in the bank. He’s worth up to $250 million, and he’s made it clear that he’s willing to spend every last cent fighting for Suri,” the source said.

A bitter Cruise, 50, told pals he was caught off guard and felt betrayed by Holmes’ sudden demand for a divorce after splitting from their Hollywood mansion to set up house in a posh Chelsea pad.

“What really shocks him is how meticulously she planned this divorce, when all the while she was telling him she loved him. He’s devastated by that, and that devastation has turned into anger,” a source said.

But Holmes, 33, is every bit as determined to keep her beloved Suri away from the clutches of Tom’s Scientology cohorts - who were trying to take more and more control of the child’s life, sources told US magazine.

“Tom was beginning to audit Suri behind [Holme’s] back,” the source said, referring to the Scientology practice that supposedly cures people of any mental and emotional problems and sets them on a path to enlightenment.

While a Cruise rep denied that charge, the stunning "Dawson’s Creek" star wasn’t taking any chances.

“You get asked really intense things [during auditing] - and Suri is only 6! Katie saw a difference in Suri,” the source added.

The shocking disclosures come just two days after the couple issued a joint statement announcing a settlement of their split.

“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents,” the statement read.

Holmes had filed for divorce in Manhattan about two weeks ago amid word that the Catholic-raised cutie didn’t want Suri indoctrinated in the controversial religion.

A judge still needs to sign off on the divorce agreement.

If true perhaps that explains why all of a sudden she started throwing temper tantrums in public the last couple of months.
