Oooooooo... shivers...  Awesome piece!  Savage has an incredible .338 Lapua as well.  My Lando-juniors were trying to talk Old Man Lando into springing for one.  Couldn't justify the $$$ for the weapon or the ammo.

Gun of the day. Today, my personal concealed carry choice for every-day carry. The Walther PPK/s.

(and not just because I am a big Bond fan and collector)

    Walther® PPK/S Pistol
    Manufacturer Number: VAH38001
    Action: Single/Double
    Caliber; .380 ACP
    Capacity: 7 Round
    Features:
        Firing Pin Safety
        Manual Safety with Decocking Function
Double Action and Single Action Trigger
        Extended Beaver Tail
    Barrel Length: 3.35 Inch
    Overall Length: 6.1 Inch
    Sights: Fixed
    Weight (Empty): 22.4 Ounces

Before someone talks about the stopping power of the .380, consider this.

It doesn't have the energy of the .45 but the lack of energy will cause the bullet to stay in the target longer versus going right through. Maybe not the best against a large bear, but for the average tweaked out crack-head mugger, it will work quite well.

Today, the SIG 716 Precision Sniper is the new piston operated 7.62x51mm / .308 Win. rifle from Sig Sauer.

The rifle will be offered in four configurations:

* Tactical Patrol (12.5" barrel, almost certainly only on offer to law enforcement and military)
* Patrol (16" barrel)
* Precision Marksman (16" barrel)
* Precision Sniper (20" barrel)

Every model is equipped with free-floating quad rail and chrome-lined barrels. The Marksmen models feature heavy match barrels. The non-marksmen models come with backup iron sights. The 517 makes use of Armalite's AR-10 Gen II magazine.

It is almost a law of history that the same wealth that generates a civilization announces its decay. For wealth produce ease as well as art; it softens a people to the ways of luxury and peace and invites invasion from stronger arms and hungrier mouths.

Today, one for the pistol enthusiasts.

The FN Five-seven, trademarked as the Five-seveN, is a semi-automatic pistol designed and manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium. The pistol is named for its 5.7-mm (.224 in) bullet diameter, and the trademark capitalization style is intended to emphasize the manufacturer's initials—FN.

The Five-seven pistol was developed in conjunction with the FN P90 personal defense weapon and the 5.7×28mm cartridge. The P90 was introduced in 1990, and the Five-seven was introduced in 1998 as a pistol using the same 5.7×28mm ammunition. Developed as a companion pistol to the P90, the Five-seven shares many of its design features: it is a lightweight polymer-based weapon with a large magazine capacity, ambidextrous controls, low recoil, and the ability to penetrate soft body armor when using certain cartridge types.

Sales of the Five-seven were originally restricted by FN to military and law enforcement customers, but since 2004, the pistol has also been offered to civilian shooters for personal protection, target shooting, and similar uses. Although offered only with sporting ammunition, the Five-seven's introduction to civilian shooters was met with vocal opposition from gun control organizations such as the Brady Campaign, and the pistol has been subject to ongoing controversy in the United States.

The Five-seven is currently in service with military and police forces in over 40 countries, such as Canada, France, Greece, India, Poland, Spain, and the United States. In the United States, the Five-seven is in use with numerous law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service. In the years since the pistol's introduction to the civilian market in the United States, it has also become increasingly popular with civilian shooters.

This is a terrific category...given the times we're living.

Could I make a request that you include the average prices of the featured guns?  And cost of ammunition?

Or even a link where we could go to get the information?

Shotguns are popular for home defense and today I thought I would show you an unusual one that would be great for this application. Serbu makes custom shotguns based on Remington or Mossberg platforms.

One of their top models is the Super-Shot 12 Gauge.

Type Manually operated, pump action
Gauge, chamber 12, 76 mm / 3”
Length 419 mm / 16.5” (with 6.5” barrel)
Barrel length 165 mm / 6.5” (also 229mm/9” and 305mm/12”)
Weight 2.04 – 2.72 kg / 4.5 – 6 lbs
Magazine capacity 2, 3 or 4 rounds

Even though this is modified shotgun that is well under the 16" barrel, it is registered as a AOW (Any Other Weapon) and not a class II. This means it only requires an additional $5 transfer stamp, not a special license.

The other good news, the price is only around $700 new.

When I moved from Northern California to NYC I had to sell mine.  Needless to say, NYC is not a place where a new comer can obtain CCW--unless you are politically connected; even then good luck.  It was the silver model.   8888crybaby  Sigh, I sure miss it--though I never missed with it.

By the way, my kids gave me the complete boxed set of 007 CD's for Christmas.  They know their daddy.

I felt the same way when I moved here and had to give up my Ruger P89 - and the 15-round clip I managed to pick up for it - and my little Browning .22 semi-auto pistol (my plinker).

Today I wanted to share another one of my personal guns and a great alternate home-defense weapon. The MasterPiece Arms Mini 9mm which is basically a civilian version of a MAC11.

This little gun is a power-house. Made from stamped steel, you could drive over it and not hurt it (never tested that theory). Its construction is very simple and it uses few, heavy parts. I have run thousands of rounds through this and the only time I've had a jam was when it was my own fault and didn't seat the magazine correctly.

For home defense, it has the advantage of both a small size and the 30 round magazine. It is also simple to operate in the dark. (and this really turns heads at the gun range)

Top Cocker
one (1) 30 Round Polymer Magazine
one (1) Standard Extension
one (1) Mag Loader
Thread Size: 1/2 x 28
American Made
Ships in Gun Case
Lifetime Guarantee

Price $488

Note, MasterPiece Arms will be coming out with a suppressor for this gun later this year and I'll be first in line.

I forgot to add, it is also extremely accurate and the sights, while simple are very easy to use.

I have a flashlight attached but am considering a holosight as well.
