Gunsmithing is something I've always wanted to dabble in, but I have never had a place to do it.

That is changing....

Good article though, and the mods they discuss might make sense to many 870 fans.  Lots of those shotguns around out there that can be had pretty inexpensively to experiment on.  I wouldn't start in on Grandpa's old shotgun.....

Sometimes the commonality of 'grandpa's' gun is what is attractive to the future gunsmith. It is cheap and easy to replace parts. Like the 68 VW Bug.

Which also makes it a useful device to keep in one's personal arsenal; if it ever becomes necessary for folks to field their weapons, there should be lots to cannibalize parts from.
