Friedman: Keep Gas Prices High
March 7, 2011

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Thomas L. Friedman: Gasoline is four bucks a gallon. We need to talk about this, folks, because it's inching up there.  You seen any news about it?  Well, two little stories, Thomas L. Friedman on Slay the Nation yesterday with Bob Schieffer talking about the White House chief of staff Bill Daley.  "One of the options now: Consider using oil from the strategic reserve in order to bring down the price of gasoline.  Does that make sense to you, Mr. Friedman?"

FRIEDMAN: That would rank in my top five worst ideas of 2011 so far.  I think that there's one thing we should finally be doing is using this opportunity to have a credible energy policy that begins to reduce our addiction to oil. Gasoline's almost $4 a gallon.  We know that's a red line where people really start to change their behavior.  At a minimum, I'd be talking about a tax that basically says, "We're gonna keep it at $4 a gallon."

RUSH:  He wants it higher.  He wants it four to five dollars a gallon, and it's not that they start changing their behavior, Mr. Friedman. It's that they start voting out incumbents.  You had better keep that in mind, too, as you're idolatry of Obama continues.

All well and good for Friedman ......... he probably walks, rides the subway or take a limo everywhere he goes.  These pundits forget there is a whole lot of us who live out in the wide open spaces and need to drive to get where we have to go and have to buy food and the rising cost of fuel rises the cost of food, which many poor and working poor can barely afford now.  Friedman is a bleeping idiot.

Just how incredibly tone deaf the ruling liberal pseudo-intellectual elite are to the real needs and concerns of working people (here in flyover country) never ceases to amaze me.

I saw a report today that the last time this happened, when Bush was President, the media covered this 250% more and when they did cover it they tied it to President Bush and government actions fifteen times more often than under Obama.

Of course; and they covered it in a negative light when Bush was in office, but now that His Revealed Holiness Obuttocks is in office, it's the neatest thing since sliced cheese.

In what reality is $4 to $5+ per gallon gasoline the "neatest thing since sliced cheese"?

They CAN'T spin this.

Obama is terminal, in a political sense.  There is no treatment.                 ...... "Just open up and take this blue pill, Mr. Soetoro!"

It's all the Chinazation of the USA......... make fuel so high people have to all move into the cities and leave all the land to the environmentalists..... then everyone can walk or take the rail........ Friedman has spent too much time in China and not enough in middle America.

In the reality of the eco-nazis, it's certainly "awesome" and in the reality of the deluded zero-carboners and the acolytes of the Church of Global Warming it's "awesome."

But, more to the point, is the fact that they are simply downplaying its significance and trying to use falsified group "consensus" - which humans are prone to find attractive because we are all, at bottom, pack animals - to convince the doubters that the problem lies with them, not with the lies and spin being fed to them by the MSM.
