U.P. sci-fi: ‘Northbound’ web series creators to host open house in Kingsford

KINGSFORD - The creators of a science fiction/survivalist film project based in the Upper Peninsula will host an open house Saturday in Kingsford to meet local residents interested in contributing to the second season of the web series.

The "Northbound" open house will be 1 to 4 p.m. at Hole in 1, 700 East Blvd. Attendees can sign up for casting auditions, learn other ways to contribute to the production, watch early footage from the second season, hear updates on the project and win items created exclusively for the event.

"Northbound" is a series of short films that serve as a prelude to the planned full-length feature film "Northstar." According to the movie synopsis, "Northstar" is about a group of survivalists who eke out their daily existence after a mysterious cataclysm has killed most of North America in a single day.

The U.P., short for Upper Peninsula.

I used to live up there.

Edit: After a bit of digging I found the link to the web series itself:  http://geeknation.com/shows/northbound/
