@truth_seeker

I watched that, quite good, quite artistic. I stumbled on this, I guess Chuck Berry was there too; so among other artists.  46 minutes in.

This is the way it should be.

Maybe the most off-the-wall thing Chuck Berry ever did---which is why I love it! RIP, Mr. B. . . .

For a slight change of pace, in the 1970s, there was a Dutch country group called the Tumbleweeds, they were good. There is still country music over in Europe and it has had its followers for some time. The Dutch, if one reads up, are the tallest people on earth. In some of the Tumbleweeds' videos, I see that, not in this one so much as a lot of people are sitting.

Say now, there is still Country music here in the U.S., you just have to look for it. It helps if you're in Texas.

@Ghost Bear

Or Mariachi music, "it's like a whole other country" alright, the latest ad has ballet folklorico, maybe brush up on español, it helps in all the minority majority states except Hawaii.  So, other languages and cultures are great, but the state may get blue and it's not that far off as well.

Sorry that one can't post a song about another US state like Idaho; or that other people enjoy that music but after Bob Wills, there's been no one from the Lone Star of that same stature, let alone comparing to Merle Haggard or Johnny Cash.

So, if your telling us what it's about, too bad, it's just about one state. And 20 years from now...

Even though I met Dolly in Nashville and she sings Muleskinner Blues, I really like this Italian Rockabilly band, Wheels Fargo and Nightingale. I guess they are in Italy, so they can't know about country. Anyway, this is almost a novelty number based on the Fendermen's early 1960s version but they play a lot of other songs as well. Rock Island Line is well done. Rockabilly is big in Europe and American acts tour over there as Bill Kirchen, formerly of Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen is doing now.

Looks like this Cody Johnson Band additionally, at least in this case, is classified as cowboy music versus country; cowboy music like Sons of the Pioneers, Michael Murphy and so on. Thanks for creating one's owns definitions.

I always knew Commander Cody had diverse roots,  though the band members were from around the nation, they met at the University of Michigan. The band they were a bit similar to, to me, was Asleep at the Wheel; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asleep_at_the_Wheel  but I had no idea as to their geographical roots.

Good luck in calling them garbage as well, in Austin or anywhere. These two bands really revitalized Western Swing, Texas Swing, songs like San Antonio Rose... to which years later, we would see Merle Haggard or George Strait do similar undertakings.

Or I wonder, if those so quick to criticize even have heard of Bob Wills,  :silly:

Just out of curiosity, to whom are you responding?

I heard the Asleep at the Wheel  version of "Take Me Back to Tulsa" on the radio just this afternoon; they do a good job on just about everything they do.

Wow, music postings at almost the same time between the two posters and a similar attitude, rude. Just makes me wonder.

But the ideal country artist is one who self-publishes his own music, this Cody fellow and we are all suppose to know him.  One can look it up, he is on no major label.
