AUSTIN (KXAN) — A local World War II veteran took to the skies on Sunday as he flew on a historic military plane that flew over France during the historic Normandy Invasion on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Jim Calvert, 94, was a C-47 pilot and flew the aircraft in China, India and Burma. Calvert is the only living pilot in the country to have wings from three air forces, The United States, The Royal Air Force of Great Britain and the Chinese Air Force.

His family and friends spanning three generations took a ride on the C-47, "That's All, Brother." It's the same plane he once flew over the Himalayas in 1945 when he served during the war.
