Border rancher: 'We’ve found prayer rugs out here. It’s unreal'

LORDSBURG, N.M. —  Ranchers and farmers near the U.S.-Mexico border have been finding prayer rugs on their properties in recent months, according to one rancher who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation by cartels who move the individuals.

The mats are pieces of carpet that those of the Muslim faith kneel on as they worship.

"There’s a lot of people coming in not just from Mexico," the rancher said. "People, the general public, just don’t get the terrorist threats of that. That’s what’s really scary. You don’t know what’s coming across. We’ve found prayer rugs out here. It’s unreal. It’s not just Mexican nationals that are coming across."

One of liberals talking point is that terrorists are not coming across the border.  President Trump should cover this in his address.  The only reason for ME muslims to cross illegally is because they can't come in through the airport.

This article also includes numbers on how many are being caught.  Some are terrorists.  Pelosi and Schumer are putting our country at risk.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

We need some data on how many have been caught from other countries than Mexico. That stats exist but are kept from us. Then again, there are all those who left those prayer rugs and made it through. Who knows how many?

Right, who knows how many.  We only have statistics on the ones that were caught.  There was something in the article that caught my eye.  She said she only talks to the border patrol she can trust.  That's a little unnerving.  I would not be surprised at all if there are agents who have been infiltrated by Cartel.

And someone (liberal) the other day asked me where heroin comes from.  They pointed out that it comes from Afghanistan.  So if they don't have poppy fields in Mexico does that mean that Middle Easterners are working with Mexican drug Cartel?

It is unreal. That guy can make some nice coin on those if he sells them on Fakebook Marketplace or Craigslist!

Your the BS.  I found her credible.  If she wanted to make up a story she would not have said she didn't actually see them.  Just found the prayer rugs.

Those ranchers and farmers need to guard their livestock, especially the sheep and goats. Some of those "migrants" just gots to have it!

Once-ler, they have been finding prayer rugs in the Arizona desert for years...this is really not just a recent development. The only thing that's new is the frequency of these finds. I've worked at DHS here in Arizona since 2002, and I personally know a good number of Border Patrol and ICE agents among others...you are just plain wrong on this one. And its more than just prayer rugs...its Koran's, tasbih and other religious paraphernalia. If I were allowed, I would cite specific instances both at the border and in the desert but you'll just have to take my word on this...or not, I guess.

Prayer rugs and rape trees.  What a freakin' combination.  @Once-Ler go take a trip to the border and see for yourself!  Seeing for most is believing.

A presidential tweet referenced a dubious story reiterated a long-circulating, never-proven rumor that has been used to bolster claims that the Islamic State is attempting to gain entry to the United States.

Quote
Amid a flurry of headlines about the government shutdown and Michael Cohen on January 18 2019, President Donald Trump tweeted a highly dubious claim that ranchers on the southern United States border had found "prayer rugs" as part of a plea to fund his plan to build a wall to separate the U.S. from Mexico:

Trump referenced (but did not link to) a January 16 2019 Washington Examiner piece titled "Border rancher: 'We've found prayer rugs out here. It's unreal.'" That article quoted an unnamed rancher who — without evidence — insinuated that "suspected terrorists" were entering the United States via its border with Mexico:

In the video, the anonymous woman begins by saying "I obviously don't have any proof" that  "prayer rugs" were discarded near the border.
A woman off-camera asks if she has seen any "OTMs," to which she replies she has not. She does claim she has seen "prayer rugs," but she does not describe the item or items she believes were prayer rugs or elaborate on how that conclusion was reached.

This is an old boogyman story for the gullible border kooks.  So dumb.

Look, I just told you that these items have been found. I don't think this, I know it for a fact. There IS no debate as to whether or not these have been found...they have. I wish I could tell you where, how much, and who it is believed to have come from...but I cannot. My guess is that we have others here that work for DHS/Law enforcement who can also confirm this...and who also cannot provide you with any details.

You can either call me a liar and move on or accept that I have direct knowledge of this fact. And it IS a fact. At this point, it seems clear you will believe only what fits your narrative. So do as you wish.

@Once-Ler   @Mesaclone

Okay but there might be some debate as to the significance of the rugs. If you are crossing the border, might there be a chance you might need a small square rug to cross over barb wire?  Maybe? Are there pictures? Just looking at images of 'prayer rugs' on the net, one can tell they are Islamic.

It has been said, Korans have been found in the desert, again, we need some sort of evidence for this.

Even Judicial Watch claimed to have firm information of terrorist training camps operating in the border area but then, some TV stations went after the report and found very little.

So, I'm skeptical too.

We indeed, had something to fear from Communism, I grew up in that environment some. Yes, it was a threat but at times too, people's reactions border on total hysteria. Once it was communism, now the or a big threat is Islamic Terrorism and yes, it is but one has to view the situations with some reason as well.

I'm not arguing the significance...all I'm saying is that these items WERE found, to include Koran's and Tasbih as well as the rugs. Certainly, these could belong to perfectly peaceful Islamic immigrants. We can always argue the subjective stuff, but it gets silly when we are arguing a core fact...that fact being that this stuff HAS been found.

As for skepticism...hell yes...always.

China, Bangladesh, Haiti, it's clear that people from all over are coming through the border. So, perhaps saying something like "prayer rugs" isn't that big of a deal.
