Former right-hand man testifies El Chapo bribed ex-Mexican president with $100 million

BY JOHN BOWDEN - 01/15/19 04:36 PM EST

Former drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman allegedly authorized the bribing of former Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto to the tune of $100 million dollars, his former right-hand man testified Tuesday, according to multiple news outlets.

Alex Cifuentes, described as a close associate of Guzman and key player in the Sinaloa Cartel, which Guzman formerly controlled, reportedly confirmed on the witness stand Tuesday afternoon that Nieto was paid a $100 million bribe by Chapo, though he was not sure when the bribe occurred.

Actually, we found out about some bribing going on last November. The amount at that time was listed as $6 million.

The story was posted here in some form.  So, now, it's grown to $100 million.
