Docs Show US To Massively Expand Footprint At Jordanian Air Base Amid Spats With Turkey, Iraq
Tens of millions of dollars will turn this base in Jordan into a new major regional hub for combat jets, drones, cargo planes, and more.
By Joseph Trevithick  January 14, 2019

he U.S. military is moving ahead with plans to dramatically expand its presence at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan to better accommodate a broad mix of fighter jets, ground attack aircraft, armed drones, cargo planes, and more. The multi-million-dollar construction project comes as President Donald Trump’s administration moves to withdraw American forces from neighboring Syria. The documents themselves date to the fall of 2018. The defense budget for the 2018 Fiscal Year included more than $140 million for the upgrades to the Royal Jordanian Air Force base, which the United States has been actively using for regional operations since at least 2013.

I honestly think the headline meant to say Iran not Iraq because our "spats" with Iraq are so-so actually, IMHO.

Syria per square miles is about the size of Florida so maybe Iraq is about the same size as? Alabama or something? A little bigger. So, it seems we should be ready to have fairly quick responses to problems that might arise.
