WALL STREET’S FINANCIAL GESTAPO TO DRAIN BIKER POCKETSGrapevine, Tx – No one is really sure if it’s the cops or the insurance industry – or both – are behind a blow to letting those who ride decide that was suddenly thrown into the 86th Legislature’s hurdy gurdy goulash by a Dallas lady lawyer who got busted for driving so drunk she genuflected to the cops and told them she loves them, that she will “fight for them.â€
Representative Victoria Neave, a Democrat who unseated an East Dallas County GOP incumbent in 2016, and promptly got busted for DWI in 2017, has drafted a bill that would repeal Sections 661.003(c), (c-2), and (i) of the Transportation Code.
That law allowed bikers who have completed a rider safety course or have medical coverage approved by the Texas Department of Insurance the option of wearing protective headgear approved by insurance underwriters – or going bareheaded.
If passed by both houses and signed by the Governor, the new rules would put the insurance companies’ government mouthpiece back in charge of the police by repealing the subsection that prohibited an investigative apprehension of riders and passengers riding with no helmet or wearing headgear suspected of not meeting DOT approval, effective September 1 of this year.
