Rod Rosenstein expected to leave the Justice Department in a matter of weeks

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expected to step down from his role in the Justice Department in the coming weeks.

A source confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Rosenstein always expected to serve for about two years, and said he is likely leave after attorney general nominee Bill Barr is confirmed by the Senate.

Barr’s confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary committee begin next week, and once he's confirmed, he will officially replace former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who was forced to resign by the White House in November.

The source said Rosenstein is not being pushed out, and ABC News reported that he wants to ensure a smooth transition to the next deputy attorney general.

After Sessions’ departure, there was speculation that Rosenstein would depart soon after. Yet he remained in his post after Matt Whitaker, the former chief of staff for Sessions, was named acting attorney general.

Rod Rosenstein to Resign When New Attorney General Is Confirmed

By Jim E | January 9, 2019 9:38AM

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is reportedly ready to resign from the White House as soon as a successor to former Attorney General Jeff Sessions is named.
So long, Rod

Rosenstein’s announcement confirms a long-standing rumor in Washington: the controversial Deputy AG is finally calling it quits. His departure will end a less-than-amicable relationship with the President, who has distrusted him ever since the appointment of Robert Mueller to head a special counsel investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government.

Rosenstein will leave his post once Trump’s nominated successor to Jeff Sessions, William Barr, is confirmed by the Senate.

I sense the rats believe they’ve wrung about all the use out of that probe they’re gonna get. They’ll now  take the Mueller report, however laughable, and run with it.

Finally!!! Perhaps now we will begin to see some more swamp draining.
"I believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey it laws; to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies." -William Page

Bad news for anyone who thinks Barr’s skepticism of the probe means Mueller will be fired.....

Graham said Barr told him about his longtime relationship with Mueller. Barr and Mueller worked together when Barr was Bush's attorney general between 1991 and 1993 and Mueller oversaw the department's criminal division. Graham said the two men were 'best friends' and have known each other for 20 years.

-snip-

Graham listed a number of questions that he had put to Barr: 'I asked Mr. Barr directly, 'Do you think Mr. Mueller is on a witch hunt?' He said no. 'Do you think he would be fair to the president and the country as a whole?' He said yes. 'And do you see any reason for Mr. Mueller's investigation to be stopped?' He said no. 'Do you see any reason for a termination based on cause?' He said no. 'Are you committed to making sure Mr. Mueller can finish his job?' Yes.'
