Pelosi Introduces Bill to Force Presidents—But Not Members of Congress—to Release Their Tax Returns

(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced legislation on Friday that would require the president and vice president and candidates for the presidency and vice presidency to release their tax returns.

The bill, however, would not require members of Congress or candidates for Congress to release their tax returns.

The provision is part of H.R. 1—the “For the People Act”—which Pelosi introduced Friday.

A summary of the bill says that it includes a section titled “Presidential Tax Transparency.” This section, says the summary: “Requires sitting presidents and vice presidents, as well as candidates for the presidency and vice presidency, to release their tax returns.”

Nancy should check out what the Constitution has to say about bills of atainder.

What *I* want to see is a law that requires the immediate family members of the US Congress and the US Senate being REQUIRED to submit detailed financial statements each year in order to prove the family isn't selling votes or profiting from serving in public office.

And the lists should not only be public,but media outlets should be REQUIRED by law to publish them.

If candidates had to, it would only make sense that those in the line of succession would as well.  What if there was an emergency but they couldn't be sworn in because they hadn't released their returns?

    All Candidates for Federal/State Office should release their Tax Returns.  How can you represent your constituents in a Government system that you, yourself defraud?
