Woman Comatose For a Decade Gives Birth Unexpectedly, Police Launch Sexual Assault Investigation


A woman who has been comatose for at least a decade gave birth in a Phoenix nursing facility Dec. 29, sparking a police investigation into possible sexual abuse.

Her caretakers had no idea the woman was pregnant “until she was pretty much giving birth,” a source familiar with the situation told CBS 5.

“From what I’ve been told she was moaning. And they didn’t know what was wrong with her,” the source told CBS 5.

The baby boy is healthy, but the mother remains in a vegetative state caused by a near-drowning incident years ago. The patient had around the clock care and many staff members at Hacienda HealthCare where she lives could have entered her room alone.

Hacienda HealthCare has already instituted a new policy so that male caretakers are never alone in a room with a female patient, the source told CBS 5.

"Vegetative state" seems to be a very subjective diagnosis. 

I think there are people who have been diagnosed as such and have come out of them.  They remember what went on while they were "vegetative".

Hmmmmm....
Not only that, there would be a steep increase in hydration and nutrition, along with breast engorgement, pelvic expansion, and all the other normal changes that come with pregnancy.

To believe this story you are required to believe three very disturbing things.
First, that all the doctors, nurses, and staff, are so blind or utterly negligent that they did not notice.
Second, that the woman had absolutely no medical exam of any kind for 9 months.
Three, that someone either staff or visitors, is having sex with comatose patients. Is this a medical brothel?

In any case, the place should be should be, and likely will be, shut down in disgrace with at least a few people likely going to jail.

Sadly, this happened a several decades ago in Austin to my sister's best friend who was in a coma after a serious car accident.

An orderly raped her repeatedly while she was in that condition.  Fortunately, he was caught

There is no punishment severe enough to deliver to someone like that.
