US pledges $10.6B aid for Central America, southern Mexico
« on: December 18, 2018, 09:31:16 pm »
Quote
The United States pledged $5.8 billion in aid Tuesday for strengthening government and economic development in Central America, and another $4.8 billion in development aid for southern Mexico.

The U.S aid aims to promote better security conditions and job opportunities as part of a regional plan to allow Central Americans and Mexicans to remain in their countries and not have to emigrate.

The plan was announced in a joint U.S.-Mexican statement released by the State Department and read aloud by Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary Marcelo Ebrard in the Mexican capital.

“In sum I think this is good news, very good news for Mexico,” Ebrard said.

As usual the MSM isn't doing Trump any favors.  Wish the MSM would focus on the dispicable parents who put their kids at risk.

I'd like to know why the U.S. is donating $10.6B in aid, when we can't get $5B for a border wall.  What's wrong with this picture folks?

You got to be joking.  This is a good example of what liberals do.  They give money to corrupt governments and it never helps the people.  Trump is doing this because the new Socialist/Communist President of Mexico suggested it.

First secure the border.  But no, they have billions to send to failed governments but can't help the American people by securing the border.

And I might add that the Mexican government is drug cartel.  And this new president talks about fighting drug cartel but we haven't even seen what he will do.  I think we are jumping the gun.  He could be drug connected too.

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Everything is wrong with it.  It validates liberal talking points about the poor people.  And diminishes the burden put on Americans to not only raise their families here, but provide them jobs in their own country.  It is most likely that the money will do nothing.

I'm still waiting to find out what's in the new and improved trade deal with Mexico.  So let me get this straight ... a new trade deal is on the table with Mexico that's supposed to be better for the U.S.A., yet we're giving them billions in aid!  Got it.

I didn't think about that, but you are right.  It doesn't make sense at all.  But I am supposed to support this?

The new Mexican President is like Trump.  And he says Mexico is broke.

Support his efforts in opposing the left...this clearly isn't one of those efforts.  He still is standing between the left and our sovereignty (so far), but in no way am I suggesting giving him a free pass.

I really admire you.  You are a fair minded person and I truly believe that you think he is opposing the left.  To me it looks worse every day.

Give that aid to them after the way, Obama, Bush and Reagan have all had misadventures in Central America.

You don't want migrants up here, the keyword has been invest down there before you are investing for them here.

Oh, yeah I get you.  You think we should funnel money to drug Kingpins and corrupted Cartel politicians.

Would amnesty work in Mexico?

Mexico is not Colombia.

López Obrador is proposing amnesty in a different conflict carried out by radically different actors – drug kingpins, corrupt politicians and security forces who for 11 years have waged war with virtual impunity.

It’s unclear, for example, why drug traffickers would abandon their US$40 billion illicit industry – which supports around 500,000 jobs in Mexico – in exchange for a preemptive pardon from authorities.

It is also difficult to reconcile López Obrador’s vows for honest government with his proposal to pardon corruption, though he has committed to finishing all ongoing investigations into public officials accused of corruption.

I wonder too what people are thinking that would support this?  Do they believe 10 billion dollars is going to stop illegal immigration?  The new Mexican President suggested this.  He is on record saying that everyone has the right to immigrate.  He is pro immigration.  Likely our money will not help stop illegal immigration.  Won't create jobs.  Probably will fund more caravans.

Fury as Mexico presidential candidate pitches amnesty for drug cartel kingpins

Andrés Manuel López Obrador says he wants a dialogue on the drug war that has cost the country an estimated 200,000 lives over the last decade

A leading Mexican presidential candidate has been accused of wanting to explore a deal with the devil in an attempt to bring peace to the country.

Speaking in the violence-wracked southern state of Guerrero this weekend, Andrés Manuel López Obrador floated the idea of an amnesty for drug cartel kingpins, saying he wanted a dialogue on the drug war that has cost the country an estimated 200,000 lives over the last decade.

On July 1st 2018 Mexico will have a new President. According to a recent poll in the Spanish newspaper El Pais, the two main contestants are Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), projected to win 43.4% of the votes, and Ricardo Anaya, credited with 27.7%. (https://elpais.com/internacional/2018/04/20/mexico/1524221306_832397.html)

At a closer inspection, both competitors put Mexico in front of some difficult and potentially unpalatable choices.

AMLO and his love affair with drug cartels

“Love and peace.” That was López Obrador’s message after two police officers were decapitated by the Sinaloa Cartel in 2006. And it was not an exception. During the 2005-2006 presidential campaign, López Obrador either refused to talk about El Chapo and his cartel, or blamed the government for the drug-related killings, exonerating the narcos. In 2012, López Obrador spent an entire presidential campaign not mentioning the name of the most-wanted Mexican druglord.

This is the shocking interview AMLO gave to the press on the day the photos of the decapitated police officers were published:

– Aren’t you worried about what is happening with drug trafficking?

– I’m not answering that, we are in truce. Love and peace.

– The narcos left a message to the government. What do you say?

– I’m not going to answer. I offer apologies to all. Love and peace.

– Are you afraid to provoke the drug lords?

– I’m not going to answer, because if I say “a” or “b” they can misinterpret.

– But aren’t you worried about the climate of violence?

– What happens is that right now I’m at peace with my conscience.

– Are you going to be able to fight the narcos?

– Well, this municipality is called Tenosique, it borders with Guatemala and Chiapas. We go later to Balancán and later we will go to Ciudad del Carmen so you can rest, because you deserve it.

– What does that matter when blood is running?

– I offer an apology, but the truth, the truth, the truth, the truth, the truth… You have the right to ask; but right now I’m on a voluntary media blackout.

– And the drug trafficking?

– Love and peace.

Voters elected a sound bite. A man that had no idea how achieve what he said he was going to do. Completely ill equipped for the job.

The majority of people want border security in this country. They've said that repeatedly at the polls. Any leader worth his salt could have rallied the American people to contact their representatives and put the fear of god in them to fund the wall instead of paying extortion money to all the countries that send their people here to break in. He could have rained hell on congress. It was a winning position for Trump but instead he whimpered and folded.

He clearly has no idea how to lead.

Trump is like the guy at work that spends all day complaining instead of working.  Who is late every day because he claims other people do it, or have done it in the past.  Who spends five extra minutes playing Poki Go on his phone at break because nobody is looking.  Who claims that everyone is out to get him and there is a conspiracy to get him fired.  Even though he has been lazy enough that he should be, but just can't see it is his own fault.

Trumps entire presidency has been a sob story.  A whining session of victimhood.  He hasn't done anything because he has other people he can blame.
