Trump says approval rating would be 75 percent without Mueller

By Jordan Fabian - 12/06/18 10:29 AM EST

President Trump claimed Thursday that his approval rating would be 75 percent if it wasn't for special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.

"Without the phony Russia Witch Hunt, and with all that we have accomplished in the last almost two years (Tax & Regulation Cuts, Judge’s, Military, Vets, etc.) my approval rating would be at 75% rather than the 50% just reported by Rasmussen," Trump tweeted.

Trump blasted Mueller's probe as "Presidential Harassment!"

Certainly this is not the stupidest thing he has said or tweeted but it's gotta rank in the top 10.

I think we need to start categorizing his stupid sayings and tweet by year.  This would rank among the top 10 stupid things that he has said or tweeted in 2018.  2016 and 2017 need to have their own top 10.

I don’t think so.

You don't think that his rating would be 75% without Mueller, or you don't think this is one of the top 10 stupid things that he's ever said or tweeted?

I think it's impossible to say, so yeah.... it could be deemed stupid.  What I really think is stupid is his body language (arms crossed defensively) at the HWB funeral.   Now that was stupid.

Yeah, as usual he ran the numbers up too high, in my opinion.  Still, I would guess that the Mueller witch hunt has cost him a substantial chunk of overall approval (maybe 6 or 8 percent?).

I think Trump is going to scare the daylights out of Americans over the next few months--with some people approving of him and some wanting him dead.  But if he winds up being able to pull off his extraordinarily ambitious plans to stop voting fraud and sanctuary cities and anchor baby citizenship and human trafficking and miscellaneous Progressive/RINO corruption--plus reliably securing the border and fixing our serious monetary problems (largely involving the Fed?) and winning his tariff wars--he might eventually get to 75% approval, but it will be a very hard fight over the short term.

Does anyone doubt the media pulls for democrats, covers for democrats’ transgressions – legal and otherwise and hates and attacks republicans relentlessly?

The tweet served its purpose and sparked debate, and that’s a good thing. It was good way to turn the spotlight on the fact that a president’s popularity can be manipulated by his enemies in the media, who pump out tons of false narratives and talking points daily, especially regarding this republican president.

Look at it this way, switch the players. If it had been Obama and his campaign who had been surveilled and targeted by top officials of George W Bush’s FBI and was then hounded by a special counsel after taking office, how would the media have responded? Instinctively, you know the correct answer to this question.

I should add to my previous post that Trump's Presidency is arguably the most difficult in history with the possible exception of Lincoln's.  Even the wartime Presidents of the 20th century did not have as much on their plates as Trump does.  The Deep State must be destroyed.  If Trump did not fully grasp this during his 2016 campaign (although he claimed to grasp it at that time), he surely understands it now.

As one of Pookie's toons declared today, Trump must make history or he'll be history.

It’s a silly thing to say, because he is too polarizing to get 25% approval or more from the opposition. Even if he did, BFD. Bush 41 was it 89% right after Desert Storm. It didn’t exactly work out for him in 1992.

I would go so far as to say that if Trump ever reaches 75%--say, six months after the Mueller witch hunt is over--the remaining 25% will be the hardcore Marxists who already hate him and never will budge from that and who will probably re-double their efforts to assassinate him.  Trump himself reportedly said of his mission as POTUS, "Either God wins or I die."

Well, that's not sound theology (it's actually abominable theology), but it does give insights as to Trump's personal determination.  He intends to take the fight to the Deep State--bigly.  Like him or not, that's the bottom-line reason why he won the 2016 election (even without my help, I might add).

Yeah, some of us do know.  New timetable is January (new rules for civilians in courts martial and possible new SCOTUS appointment [needed?] to solidify our majority).

I take it that you'll move into the "Trump approval" column when it happens.

No blame there. His personality wasn’t everyone’s cup of guava. But, I happen to think your perspective became more helpful to us because it required that you reconsider your original opinions and deconstruct the campaign caricatures of Trump and look at his actions and his results rather than his personality. So, we’re all good here, dude

Ha!

Not me, bro.  Trump has been forced to moved the posts.  It's been a matter of exigencies.  (Cool word, right?)

Full disclosure:  I still regard a lot of his remarks during the campaign as completely disgusting.  I do not, cannot apologize for sitting out the 2016 election for POTUS.  But Trump is our Narcissist-in-Chief and likely the right guy for the job as POTUS right now.  So, Trump has my almost unqualified support.

(Yeah, he has continued to make unforced errors--and not just the ones the MSM spins against him.  [For example, his claim that a POTUS can pardon himself was a monumentally bad Constitutional position.]  But overall, he has changed his tone.  That's him changing more than me changing.)

It is a cool word, but totally inapplicable, in this case. Exigent means urgent. We have seen a number of tweets and missives from him, talking about how the Mueller investigation is ruining lives. Yet, he continues to allow things to continue, despite saying he can declassify FISA and prove it’s all built on a false premise. What could be a bigger priority than the ruination of people’s lives?

It’s human nature to blame others for failure. Democrats claim that the reason the economy performed poorly under Barack Obama was because the Republicans stopped him. They seem to forget the stimulus, quantitative easing 2, 3, and 4, Operation twist, the Fed pumping trillions of dollars of printed money out into the economy. Barack Obama had actually more help than probably any other post World War II president and still the economy under performed under him

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Obama and the DemocRats did enough damage to America (like Obamacare) in the first two years... that American voters gave control of Congress back to the Republicans in 2011.  And even with that control, Obama managed to still do damage to America via the infamous Iran "deal".

I failed to mention that Trump also has to get us out of the Middle East and Afghanistan, keep China in check militarily without going to war, improve relations with Russia, continue re-building our military (including a Space Warfare branch), harden our electric grid, secure us against cyber attacks, balance our national budget, start paying down the national debt, repair our ridiculously un-American demographics, strengthen our relations with Europe, finish the denuclearization of North Korea, defang Iran, slog through a new mess with the Saudi Kingdom, continue supporting Israel to the degree possible, suppress the looming violence by fascist thugs such as Antifa and BLM, crush the AGW freaks, scandalize our liberal academia, and utterly ruin the MSM--not just slightly discredit the MSM.

He might also have to keep JFK's promise to "tear the CIA into a thousand pieces"--not just clean it up a bit.  He also has to avoid getting assassinated like JFK was.

(Of course, impeachment is just a minor worry.  The main problems he faces with the new Democrat-controlled House would be unrelenting obstruction and harassment while he is trying to do what our Republic definitely needs. [Reagan got a relatively modest amount done in spite of a Democrat-controlled House, but today's Democrats are mostly rabid Radical Socialists who are out for blood, probably even real blood.])

In view of what I have pointed out in these posts, I have little or no patience with those who can't see how important and difficult all of these things are on our President's plate.  That includes TBR members who got kicked off FR (as I did) for opposing Trump's nomination but who now can't find it patriotically necessary to support our duly elected POTUS--warts and all.  For that matter, I'm afraid that a lot of those still vigorously anti-Trump TBR members will be appalled to see Trump soon taking further vigorous and even scary steps to destroy the Deep State in all of its national and international manifestations.

(Oh, and what's with all those UFOs?  :pondering:

Insurmountable obstacles, all, at least with the rabid leftists and RINOs Trump has to deal with ... and now with a leftist-controlled House.  We'll be lucky, as a nation, if he manages to just stay in office... much less win another term.   Not exactly looking promising, is it.   That said....
