This is a beautiful tribute from former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. It points to our shared history with Canada - which is also our shared history with the UK. Our current generation sometimes doesn't seem to grasp the importance of WWII.

I don't agree with all of the praise the Bush 41 domestic policies are getting - but it doesn't matter. I know the press will look at some of what happens today as subtle "digs" at President Trump  - but that doesn't matter either. Not the point of today.

This came up the other day when the news said President Bush 41 was the last to serve.  I looked up Carter's record.  He was still in the Naval Academy during the war (graduated in 1946).  President Bush 41 was the last to actually see action during the war.

But I really shouldn't quibble.  During WWII just about everyone served in some way, whether in battle or in training,  entertaining the troops, or as a civilian working in a factory making armaments, supplies and equipment for the war effort, etc.
